RealTracks Set 95: Jazz Rhythm Guitar: Bossa and Swing... only $29

RealTracks Set 95 offers a huge collection of jazz guitar accompaniment in a variety of feels, tones and textures. Included are four electric guitar styles that cover a large range of tempos, as well as two bossa styles, and a fast "Freddie" Acoustic Guitar. The Electrics are split into "FreeComp" and "GrooveComp" styles. The FreeComp styles are intended to be the sole comping instrument, with no piano. These styles feature sophisticated rhythms and harmonies. The GrooveComp styles use more repetitive rhythms and more basic harmonies so that they can be used with other comping instruments such as piano or organ without getting in the way. The Bossa Guitars have a warm nylon tone, and were recorded at the tempos of 85 & 140, and with the superior stretching features in Band-in-a-Box, all of the tempos in between are also covered. The electric & acoustic guitars are also equipped with "RealCharts" which means that not only are you hearing actual audio performances by actual musicians, you can also see what they're playing in notation, TAB, and on the on-screen guitar fretboard. RealTracks Set 95 is a must-have for any jazz fan!

RealTracks Set 95... Audio Demos!
JGTFRFS Style Demo
This demo features the fast "FreeComp" Electric Guitar style from RealTracks Set 95. The FreeComp styles are intended to be the sole comping instrument, so this RealStyle only load three instruments: Guitar, Bass & Drums. The rhythmic and harmonic complexity of the guitar fill things up nicely despite the sparseness of the trio.
BNGGRMD Style Demo
This RealStyle features a medium-up tempo rhythm section quartet of piano, bass, drums, and the "GrooveComp" Nylon Guitar style from RealTracks Set 95. This guitar is intended to be purely rhythmic, without getting in the way of the comping piano. It's usually used fairly low in the mix, blending in with the drums allowing the piano to comp in a creative fashion, but it's presence is still firmly felt with it's rich low tones
JFREDFS Style Demo
This demo features the up-tempo "Freddie" Acoustic Guitar style from RealTracks Set 95. This guitar style is intended to blend in with the drums, almost giving the impression that the snare drum is playing harmonies! This setting gives the piano a perfect backdrop to do some interesting, inventive comping, with the Acoustic Bass RealTracks offering the low-end rhythmic support.
BNGGRSL Style Demo
This RealStyle loads a quartet of bossa ballad rhythm-section RealTracks: Acoustic Bass, Piano, BossaBrushes RealDrums, and GrooveComp Nylon Guitar. This guitar style features a repetitive syncopated rhythm with alternating bass notes and chords, which generally stays away from more complex harmonies in order to not get in the way of the comping piano. The warm presence of the guitar is felt throughout the song, but it never draws the attention away from the free rhythmic comping of the piano.
JGTGRFS Style Demo
This demo features the "GrooveComp" electric guitar RealTracks style. This is a rhythmically repetitive style which is intended to be used along with another jazz comping instrument such as piano or organ. In this case, the other comping instrument is piano, and the sound is filled out by bass & drums RealTracks. The harmonies used in the guitar voicings are also deliberately less complex to allow for more freedom in the piano.
In this particular song file, the chord progression follows the very common jazz form of AABA, with the A sections sticking to the main key, and the B section modulating, in this case from F up a major third to A.
JGTFRMS Style Demo
This RealStyle features a jazz trio playing at the medium-slow tempo of 110. The comping instrument is the "FreeComp" electric guitar style from RealTracks Set 95. This style uses constantly changing rhythmic patterns, and allows for a less inhibited interpretation of the chords than in it's "GrooveComp" style counterparts, adding chord extensions more liberally. Because of this, the style is best used with no other comping instruments, as in this case where it's joined only by acoustic bass & drum RealTracks.
The chord progression in this song starts off with the very distinctive sound of I-IVm (Ebmaj7 - Abm7), and continues through common jazz chordal movement.
JGTGRMS Style Demo
This demo features the medium-slow tempo of 110 being played by a quartet of piano, bass, electric guitar & drums. The electric guitar is the "GrooveComp" style, intended for use along with other comping instruments such as piano or organ. This style uses only a few predictable rhythmic patterns. For example, in one pattern the guitar plays on beat 2 and the push into 4. On another pattern it plays on beat 1, the push into 3, and beat 4. With only a few exceptions in the style, it pretty much sticks to this. This is a deliberate choice, made so that the style will complement the other comping instruments and not get in the way. The voicing used are also picked with the same deliberate simplicity, sticking to the same range and avoiding too many non-chord-tone colorful extensions.
The chord progression here is typical of medium-slow jazz tunes, with a lot of chordal movement. Most of the chords last for two beats, and there are even some instances where there are 3 chords in a bar.
