Steve, I don' t know of any method by which you can enter more than 4 chords per measure in a 4/4 piece. Would be nice as it would allow for some more complicated arrangements if we could enter 8 chords per bar. Dennis

4 is the max. 2 per 'cell'. Example, for C|Am|F|G use C,Am <return? F,G <return>

If you have to have this, try the Edit|Expand option. This doubles the tempo and allows more 'chords per beat'.

Steve,

It's possible to "fool" BIAB into giving you more than four chords in a bar. To to this, it's necessary to develop styles that treat 2 bars as a single unit. Notes Norton has a few of these styles and it might be worth your while having a look at them. You can find these at http://www.nortonmusic.com/.

Noel

Hi Steve - Another approach to "fool" BIAB is to go to Edit/Expand (duration of chords by 2). It does this for all measures. For example, it will take a measure with 4 chords on beats 1,2,3,4 and make two measures of 2 chords on beats 1,3, which you can then edit to 4 chords on beats 1,2,3,4 if you like. Melody is expanded as well, and tempo is doubled. Now your style may seem not so appropriate because it is designed for half that tempo, so you need to work on that. Have fun.

While you can certainly expand BiaB styles, the Norton Music has been making EXPANDED styles since the early 1990s. The EXPANDED styles are designed to be EXPANDED from the ground up so they sound much better than a normal style that has been forced to expand.

Give the free mp3 demos at http://www.nortonmusic.com/styledemo.html a listen, and I'm sure you will agree. The EXPANDED styles are clearly marked with the word EXPANDED in light blue typeface.

The EXPANDED styles will not only allow you to put up to 8 chords in a measure of music, but they will also allow you to put a chord on any particular beat AND the upbeat before that same beat. Plus the effectively change the BiaB resolution from 120ppq to the acceptable 240ppq.
