I plan on using BIAB for backing tracks at some gigs. I play jazz piano, and primarily plan on using just the bass and drum tracks. I feel this is the best way to maintain a 'live' feel. I recently heard a guitarist using backing tracks with a lot of instruments, and his playing, which was excellet, seemed to be upstaged by the backing tracks, not volume-wise, but content-wise.

However, I do quite a bit of bossa stuff and I think a little soft bossa guitar would not necessarily take away the piano as the centerpiece.

Any opinions on this from folks who have lots of gigging experienced with backing tracks? I'm interested in observations of audience reactions as well.

Have always been told in regards to vocals anyway.
Record yourself and then listen.

I would think this would be applicable to your question.
Try different support combinations and recording same
song, playing same style levels etc.

You could probably do this in your studio.
My studio of course is very large bedroom. LOL

Being a top notch player, you want to enhance not overpower your
perfomances.
Here ya go, Jazzman60. 100 replies, basically the same question.
