When I want to make backups of my projest I get the backup software complaint "Filename "...........WAV" is too long. Files burned to a data disc are limited to 31 characters.

I am using a 64 bit computer on Windows 7.

Is there a way to get around this limitation, or at least am I able to get BIAB to use shorter file names?

You could make a .zip of the project, and burn that to CD. That preserves the long names.
Your CD burning software may be using the oldest naming system (ISO 9660) for maximum compatibility with old CD-ROMS. Try switching to Joliet naming system, if that option is available, instead of ISO 9660. That allows bigger names.

Thanks Peter
My CD burning software (Cakewalk Pyro Audio Creator) seems to originate in the ark, as I can not find anywhere to change that option.

Thank you for the reply.

Sepheritoh,

I use CD Burner XP. It's completely free and works on all Windows platforms. It might be worth trying that one out. If you're interested it's available from ...
