First thread is REVERB.
Just installed 2014 and playback is super heavy reverb - compared to 2013 that I was just using this morning.
Can't see where the reverb might be so high - it's on all audio in BIAB.
Any quick thoughts?
Thanks,
Tom in Ontario
First, what do the Reverb spinners report over on the mixer at the Right?
Second, make sure there isn't a DX or VST reverb plugin active in there.
Might be good to try Return to Factory Settings in the Options window, even though its a new install.

Tom, couple of first reactions in no particular order.
Is this happening on all tracks or just one or a few particular ones?
You weren't using Direct Input tracks before, were you?
In version 2014, we have the new mixer, and the reverb controls are a little different. I assume you looked at that first?
Do you use one of those soundcards with global reverb, like the EAX controls on the old Soundblasters?
Mac, let me answer you reply first - found the reverb faders in the new mixer - set to 40 = that doesn't seem high.
Knocked back to zero.
I did do a factory reset - but my ASIO driver is now really screwed up and just getting broken crackle in playback with a simple song - one realdrums part.

Matt:
I have an EAX panel on my SB card - but it's not active and I never use it.
All reverb settings are 0.0 - and use EAX is not checked on.
The big issue just became the driver. I'm going to re-boot and see what's up.
Thanks,
Tom
When the switch to ASIO results in weird sound at playback, shut down BB, wait a few secs and restart it.
In some few cases, also may need to Reboot the computer, say an older one with XP and less than 2g of ram.

Mac: I re-booted my machine and started BB again - it crashed my box with blue screen of death after being unable to write to registry about BIAB file association or something.
It's a Win 7 machine with 8gig RAM and an Intel i7 core CPU (first gen.)
I have some real work to do right now - so I can't troubleshoot right away. Don't want to crash over and over right now.
Will try later this PM.
All system sounds are fine - I can record/playback voice with mic into Adobe Audition perfectly.
Thanks

Tom, what directory have you got your BiaB installed in?
Is it at the Drive top level \bb\ folder, or somewhere in \Program Files\ ?
VideoTrack:
always been in C:\bb top level.
Tom
Seems BIAB 2014 had lots of install pains - the RealTracks folder was not seen by BIAB - I had to point it to see C:\bb\Realtracks in the preferences.
When clicking on an instrument in the mixer to change it this access error pops up:
"Access violation at address 00BE2C63 in module 'bbw.exe'
Read of address 000001B0 at: 00BE2C63".
I might re-install.

Tom, are you
running the latest update patch (Build 380)? If not, suggest you definitely apply the upgrade as next step.
Regards
Trevor
Hey Videotrack:
I installed the download from PGMusic today and it was 379 on their servers. I will look for 380.
The lousy sound I discovered is from MIDI tracks. I had ForteDXI installed but looks like it stopped working (did I buy it a few years ago? I think so, but can't find registration)
Anyway, I bought a new version to hopefully fix the MIDI sounds.
Realtracks appear to play - and sound good.
I also upgraded my ASIO driver to a newer version.
We're good to go.
Thanks for all the help. Even though I've used BIAB for over 10 years - this was the most difficult upgrade yet.

Huh? The link I sent should take you to this site - definitely build 380:
VideoTrack:
sorry what I meant to say was that I purchased BB2014 just yesterday Jan 4 - the version that was on the download server I guess was 379.
I did go and get 380 after you mentioned there was a new version.
Why don't they have the newest version when you purchase - looks like 380 has been available since Dec?
Anyway - got the new Forte registration key and things are sounding good now.
Just a one crash today

Hi Tom, Build 380 is a 'Patch' to go over the top of the distribution. There may be further patches in the future, and these are easy to apply. So it saves users having to go into an extended download option, just Install the baseline, then apply any updates if available.
Cheers
Trevor
Ok thanks Trevor, have used patches. Thanks for your time. Everything is finally sounding great out of the speakers.
