MicroSoft is getting ready to push Win10 to Win7 & 8 registered users. Is there going to be an issue using BIAB 2015 with the new Windows 10 Operating system?

Thanks,

Mark
It runs fine for me under the current beta version. There are a few others who said the same thing in another thread a month or so ago. So far, so good.
Matt, have you had any issues with your Fantom XR drivers?

Jeff
Jeff, I should have been more clear. Here we go:

BIAB works fine on Windows 10 beta so far. However, I am testing it on a Windows 10 machine that is NOT connected to my pro sound equipment, for the exact reason you asked: I don't know about drivers.

I'm hoping that the long lead time of the beta testing for Windows 10 will allow all the hardware companies to have drivers available upon final release. We can dream.

I stayed on XP for as long as I could. Moved to Win 7 about two years ago.

Hope there is no good reason to want to change to Win 10 very soon.

I am sure I will have driver issues with something I own.

And...no I do not want to go back to two inch analog tape or even carry a B3 around any more....lol...well I do miss the B3..lol

Are there any good reasons to move to Win 10???

Cheers,

Billy
If you liked Windows 7, you'll like 10. If you have Windows 8, you'll really like 10 because the user interface is more like 7 but the efficiency is better than 8.

So far the main benefit has been efficiency. It loads and performs faster, in my opinion.
Funny how things happen. Saw this thread. Got my first Win 10 pop up for the free copy a few seconds ago.

My guess...It will not be too long before we will be forced to pay for Windows by the year, every year. Free is never free...lol

Cheers,

Billy
Band-in-a-Box works fine with Windows 10.

For the Coyote synth that's included with Band-in-a-Box, you may have run this free installer to get it working with windows 10. http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=303379&gonew=1#UNREAD

(Since this installer is included with BiaB 2015 latest version, you wouldn't have to run this patch above if you have the latest BiaB 2015, though it would be fine to do so)
Hi,

Have you guy had issues with other music software using Win 10?

DAWs, Melodyne...things like that.

I assume that drivers for older software will be an issue.

At some point I am sure I will need to go to Win 10.

I don't have much of an idea when I should in stall Win 10.

Any advise would be welcome.

Thanks,

Billy
No problems so far with music software in Windows 10, but that's not the concern. It isn't that the music software uses drivers; it's the hardware devices connected to your computer that need the drivers. That's a different and unknown story. Thus my advice is to NOT upgrade on July 29, but wait until your hardware manufacturer releases updated drivers.
Thanks Matt,

Sort of what I thought. I have a M-Audio Pro Fire 2626 and because it is several years old and I think the company has changed hands and not sure if they will ever write a new driver. I just don't know. There is one for Win 8.1 so...perhaps

I am not unhappy with Win 7 to tell the truth.

Thanks,

Billy
As has been said, the real question is are your hardware devices, particularly audio interfaces (with ASIO drivers) compatible. If you are running Win 8-8.1 they are likely to be fine. If you are running Win 7, they may be OK, but you should check with the manufacturer to see if they have Win 8 drivers available. If you are running XT and the manufacturer's support stops there, you are probably out of luck... or have a good incentive to buy a newer, probably better interface. BIAB itself should run fine. Mine does. The program itself does not run all that much better than on Win7, but I like Win10 better generally and I hated Win8.

I am the sort of guy who can't resist trying the latest stuff, but if you are not that sort of guy, you might hold off the upgrade for a few months until you can learn more about the compatibility of your system and Win10 settles in.

I put Win10 on wifey's computer. It was a totally smooth transition without initial incident. However, that is as close as Win10 comes to my Win7 DAW. Went through the change from 95 - Win7 back in the day, and it was not pretty for my music hardware. Won't repeat that mistake again.

95 -> Win7 ??
Dude, that's a huge leap!

That was a lot of skipped OS upgrades in between. Nowhere near the change from W7 to W10, no wonder you had issues. That's a huge change, and I lost drivers/cards along the way also, but man I thought I was prudent.

You skipped 98, 98SE, 2000, XP, XPsp2, Vista (yay!) .. all the way to W7 from 95?

Opps, something wrong there. Let me rethink that...

OK, I got it, it was XP to Win7. But it was a big problem nevertheless. crazy

That makes more sense. Ya scared me for a minute there.
Win 10 working fine w/BIAB+RB on a 1st gen 2.4Mhz i3 laptop w/8GB of RAM on a SSD drive.

Drivers of the Tascam US 122 MKII souncard work as advertised, I'm getting about 8ms latency roundtrip.

EDIT: I've upgraded from Win 7 Home Edition and I'm running BIAB 2014. So far, so good.

HTH,
FYI - I'm using BIAB 2013 and a PreSonus Audiobox USB interface with Presonus Studio One DAW. Upgraded from Windows 8.1 to Win 10 with no issues.
Upgraded to win 10 from 8.1 .
Audiointerface Akai EIE pro and all my (audio) apps are working fine: Biab 2015, NI Komplete, Cakewalk Sonar
For anyone using Focusrite interfaces, here is my post on that: http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=304631#Post304631
I just saw that, thank you Matt.

I use the Scarlett 2i2 at home, and I'll be updating soon if everything goes well on the laptop I've already upgraded.
Hi, I installed windows 10 on my laptop and had a couple of hassles with a song I saved under windows 7. The dlelastic plugin is causing problems and the playback either throws a violation error or it sounds very jittery. I have lodged a support ticket with pgmusic.

Ditto. No issues.

Just noticed my DAW is showing an "invite" for Win10. I contacted MOTU and no win10 driver for my Audio Express 6x6. No mention if the current drivers are compatible.
This is from another forum:

Reporting in. Overall the Win 7 x64 to Win 10 x64 went pretty smooth.

I took the opportunity to replace the fixed boot drive to a SSD & add an extra 240GB SSD for libraries at the same time.

I made an image of the Win 7 boot disk & then swapped out the drives, restored the image to the new SSD drive, then proceeded with the Win 10 update.

No issues with the M-AUDIO Profire 610 connected to a VIA firewire card, yet.

Cubase Pro 8.10 launched with only 1 issue, any MIDI input devices set to DirectMusic had to be reactivated & made visible in the device Manager.

Kontakt 4 & my installed libraries, Play x64 (Word Builder in EWQL Symphonic Choirs), MOTU Ethno & UVI based Moto Symphnic Instrument, BDF2, Ivory II, NI Guitar Rig 4 and RealGuitar all performed with no issues in both x64 standalone & as VSTs in Cubase.

Slight issue with MAGIX/Independence Pro finding .aif files for the former Yellow Tools Majestic & Candy, still troubleshooting this.

Slight display issue in RealStrat, cosmetic only, the product performed without issue. Have to check for an update to the product.

All external hardware is performing without issue: M-AUDIO Keystation Pro 88, M-AUDIO Axiom Air 49, a few Steinberg CMC controllers, Korg PadKontrol, Frontier AlphaTrack.

Still doing some additional testing, but so far so good.

This the most comprehensive list of music related stuff I've seen yet.
