Hey guys, can Band in a Box read and audio file and figure out what the chords are and translate them to midi?
Thanx.

BIAB can take an audio file and using the Audio Chord Wizard (ACW), it will figure out the chords in the song (not perfect, but usually pretty close, and it depends upon the complexity of the piece). It will give you two chords per bar (unless you double the tempo, and it can figure out 4 chords per bar, but the chord grid will still just show 2 chords per bar with that higher tempo.

It will NOT, however, figure out the notes of the song to give you a MIDI notation of the song. You only get the best guess for the chords of the song. And except maybe for Melodyne (which can do some of that, again depending on the song, and YMMV), you'll be hard pressed to find any program that will generate notation for audio, especially for anything other than a single voice instrument.

But lots of folks have used the ACW to figure the chord progression (myself included).
