Who knew that Pi, (3.1415926535897932384626433832795), in the key of C could sound so cool. Be sure to listen all the way through. Multiple instruments are added till the end.

It's an infinite tone row.

Of course, that's circular reasoning...

Nice post, Bob.

An excercise we had to do at one time long ago in some Music Theory class or other, while studying tone rows. Good to see someone doing it online so that many more might appreciate same.

I have always figured that this was what the many ancients were somehow referencing when they wrote of "The Music of the Spheres".

As much as I abhor attempts to describe music in written or spoken words, it does sound rather circular, you know...

Hey, Thanks for posting! I actually had a dinner table discussion with my elementary age kids on pi day (yes we're nerds)so I let them watch this too. They're into music and they tolerate math so I'm always trying to encourage both.

There's a pi day?

The Natural Log is going to be demanding equal time...

Is it only me that was reminded of a certain Pachelbel and his canon? I must admit Pachelbel did a slightly more interesting piece to listen to though.

That was great thanks! I've also heard music based on the golden ratio:
