The idea of the BLUE MONGER savior originally combined BLUE Attitude with TuneMONGER, with solos and fills from guitar and harmonica. TuneMonger says hello to all on the forum by the way. He is off on a wonderful adventure researching The Bard. The savior shows what great Blues players can do for a town –lift them up from the blues. It's the difference between The Blues and having the blues.

Yeah, I just copied the listing in the SGU Memo, and this is what we get. I changed the Style drums in favor of MultiStems, so mixed all 16 tracks separately. Dave Bell of Blue Attitude, as mentioned, played the heck out of his Blue Guitar, and I played bass and sang.

Blue Monger

Everyone in town had their faces on the ground.
A once contagious cat had brought them blues.
They called at once for help with no reply.

The sheriff seemed annoyed, but the mayor was overjoyed.
He 911ed a friend about the news.
The assasin came at once to purify.

The Blue Monger came to town to spread the truth.
He said, "The way you're all feeling down is not The Blues. (They're more like this.) SOLO

The whole town came around with the Blue Monger's sound.
They bounced right back to life and all was good.
The mayor made sure to raise himself in praise while
the Blue Monger tipped his hat to the old town cat, and said
"When you're feeling blue, it's not The Blues."

Marty / Dave,

This is an awesome blues piece... Great vocal by Marty and fiery guitar by Dave!

Love the slow burn on this one. Excellent mix as well.

I love the topic, the talent of the non-BIAB musicianship (lead and bass), and your vocals - which fit this style like the proverbial glove. Although a set rhyming scheme isn't (IMO) necessary for this style, it does appear that you were attempting to do so between stanzas 1 and 2. I love the internal rhyme of the first line in each stanza (which are really line 1 and 2 in an 'AA' rhyming scheme) my ear didn't catch the 2nd and 3rd line rhymes between the two stanzas. This is most likely because of the space and time between the two. Regardless, as I prefaced this comment with, it isn't a necessary rhyme for this style but if you were going for it (which it appears you were) you may want to work on making each stanza an AABB rhyme.

Keep writing 'em and I'll keep on listening! Great stuff

Marty and Dave, this is one outstanding blues song.

Marty's bass sets the foundation and his vocal is spot on for this blues song.

Dave, your fingers must hurt and playing those burning leads, outstanding chops.

Loved it.

Marty & Dave ...

Quite a song! So cool!

The vocal is terrific, as is the arrangement.

Dave's guitar work is superlative! This is one of those songs that calls for firey chops and deep reverb on the guitar. And his playing on this is exactly that!

Nice work, gentlemen!

Alan

I had the good fortune of hearing this a day or so ago.
A tour de force of Dave & Marty.
Fab...congrats.

Thanks, Bob. The Blues can chase away the blues.

Thanks, Dewey. Very educational comment, and opinions are what I seek. When creativity flows I try to stay out of the way and not force rules upon it. That's why I enjoyed Hapkido --no rules. Your comment is very informative and helpful for delineating categories, which I also eschew. Yet, I am trying to improve and appreciate your help. Thanks again.

Howdy Marty & Dave....

I echo all other comments.
Original topic with a vibe all it's own and great axe work by Dave.
Good lyrics and well performed.

Well done amigos!

Thanks, Mario! Yes, I imagine Dave with a cooling fan pointed at the neck when he plays.

Thanks, Ray. Yes, I enjoy my Subscription to your YT. I can get songs early AND I can hear and see them often.

Hi Marty,

Like Ray I heard this song too before it was posted on this forum. It was you sending it directly to me ;-)
And I wrote I loved the song very much. I had to look up what a Monger is, as I know now it is some kind of farmer.
We have a lot of problems overhere with sad farmers or, as I know now Blue Mongers.
I didn't know they want to kill cats and I'm a bit sensitive when it comes to those furry animals as you know.
But it is not the Blues...

It is a really good/funny song with those lyrics and your very good vocals and -of course- an excellent play from Dave during the song.
The two of you turn every song into gold or gold or some other precious metal.

Great job!
Hans

Dave Absolutely Kills It.

A great listen.

Hi, Hans!! Monger was just using TuneMonger's handle combined with Dave's BlueAttitude --my original intent. There were no cats harmed in the making of this song, and no one wanted to kill anyone. It was a human cat who had the blues and got everyone to follow in his folly. Thanks, Hans. Please don't ask us to play metal.

Thanks, Floyd! You're right, The Blues usually only tells of things like It's quarter to 3, or sizing up match boxes to see if all his belongings will fit. Glad you like it.

Thanks, Dan. So glad you're NOT a blues expert, or you'd be telling me how unlike The Blues this one is. Seems you are a big fan of one of your biggest fans.

I don't have much time for the forum anymore for various reasons, but wanted to drop in for a minute to thank everyone that mentioned my part in this great song that Marty wrote.

I see everyone has been busy, hopefully soon I will have time to spin a few tunes cool

Sizzling Hot!

The blues is alive and well in this song, Marty.

That’s a great tone on Dave’s guitar and his fingers must’ve been smoking afterwards. smile

Your vocal and bass (love those last notes) are excellent.

Mixing all those drum stems and and the other tracks is above our mix grade ... sounds great on the monitors.

Cool video too. smile

Love it!

J&B

PS. Glad to hear that all is well with Tunemonger as we’ve missed his presence.

It's hard to go wrong with the blues, and this does a lot stuff above and beyond. Especially Dave on the guitar!

That's a lot of RealDrums on this song! wink

Keep on mongering!

Thank you, Rick. More blues? You got it. Speaking for Dave, I say neither of us can stop. Blues Buds.

Funny simple story told by a convincing blues voice, can't recall the word "assasin" used in a song, so has to be very unique subject smile
Dave is doing everything to purify the town, tearing the blue completely apart and the result is a complete success story.
Very nice bassline in the end.

Dave, thanks, and I have a few more in the hopper that you've already done, and few more waiting for you. I'm sure I can speak for all of us here that we look forward to more from you. Take care, my friend.

Thanks, Janice & Bud. Yeah, I love that tone, and Dave's playing was smokin' so I suspect his fingers were on fire. I don't know anything about pay grades, but I DO know there is nothing you can't mix, Bud.

Marty and Dave,

A proper blues tune performed by a couple of pros! Marty you always post stuff that's well worth the time to listen and always produced the right way! Sounds like you turned Dave loose and he just let it rip like he was intended to do!

Thanks, TB
