Got writer's block? Write about it I guess...

https://soundcloud.com/user-618393096/the-muses

V1
The muses have left me to sing by myself
I take down the fragments of songs from the shelf
Some written in humor, some rooted in my pain
But now when I sing them they all sound the same

V2
The muses have left me, I sit here alone
Try'n to resolve these discordant tones
Unfinished puzzles, beginnings and ends
My inspiration's been cast to the wind

Bridge
All of the times that I've laughed and I've cried
The love that I've given that has withered and died
Seasons of longing, winters endured
All the distractions of sweet saboteurs
Angels of mercy with words full of hope
Just scattered reflections in a kaleidoscope

v3
The muses have left me without a farewell'
And if they'll return nobody can tell
Chordal progressions for secret obsessions
Aborted confessions, no chance to atone

'cause the muses have left me alone....

Redeye
Smooth tune & well performed. I read lyrics first, they reminded me of Shel Silverstein a bit. Thank you for sharing.

Hi, Redeye.

This is a song I can relate to!

Good write, emotive singing, good arrangement and production.

Nice work all around! smile

Redeye, this is your best to date IMHO.
Great vocal, super lyrics, outstanding instrumentation and mix.
A sad song at its finest.

Outstanding ending!

What a lovely delicate tune. Super vocal and backtrack. Well done

I recall writing a similar song about the lack of inspiration that I was going through at the time. It hits us all and what better way to deal with it than to write about it.

Nice.

A heartfelt performance.
Easy to listen to.

I've always liked songs about writing songs, and this one is no exception.

I miss a chorus, but I guess that will have to wait until your next song where you sing about missing choruses smile

Ah, you definitely saw right through the disguises your muses were wearing, and wrote an inspiring beauty, Redeye. Such a good heartfelt melody and delivery of the lyrics. If the muses have really left you, you are doing very well on your own.

Lyrics easy to relate to and always good idea to write about the block, although difficult to notice any block when there are pearls like "Chordal progressions for secret obsessions/Aborted confessions, no chance to atone"-
Nicely bit of Louis Armstrong feel in music & vocals. Simple but pleasant arrangement.
