I recently returned home from a 5 month RV trip to the Northeast. As always I managed to

cross paths with some unusual and interesting folks. This year I met a man who was traveling

by himself half the year as he has for the last ten years. His wife refused to travel anymore so

he went by himself. She divorced him and after two years moved back into his house where for

the last 8 years they continue to live for half the year as roommates. He now is in the process

of selling the house, so where they go now is the question. I found it all very confusing and

after he told me this strange story he said “Well there you go”. It rolled around in the back of

the song truck until I got home and then it fell out. This is the end result. Thanks for listening.

There You Go

I never thought that you would wait

I’d head on back then I’d hesitate

away so long left you alone

You’ll be gone well there you go

Sometimes it was so hard to see

That it was something meant to be

I’m finally here gonna make my stand

can’t be anyone but who I am

Takes me a while this you should know

here I am and there you go

Many nights out on the road

Reflecting back on long ago

It may have seemed like I was trapped

I should have cried but I just laughed

Sometimes it’s just so hard to see
,
When it was something meant to be

I’m finally here gonna make my stand

can’t be anyone but who I am

Takes me a while this you should know

here I am and there you go

I’m finally here gonna make my stand

can’t be anyone but who I am

Takes me a while this you should know

here I am and there you go

Hi Tom.

This is superb listening! It's been a long time since I last heard one of your songs and I'm seriously blown away at just how fantastic this sounds. You've manage to use BIAB along with your home studio to perfection.

Good to see you back with a new one, Tom!

Man, your stuff is always so good, wonderful song, arrangement, and mix.

Excellent!

Hi, Tom. Man, I really like how you get inspiration for you songs. Better than that I REALLY like what you create from those inspirations. So well-written. Excellent lyrics sung so well, and the harmony brings it over the top. Excellent musicans, especially what you add. Here I am, and there you go. Yeah, I'll follow ya anywhere.

Super nice tune and wonderfully performed. Mix is perfect. The vocals jump right out but sound very warm. Cool backstory, too. Great job!

Tommy comes back with a killer song!
This is top shelf all the way.
Outstanding guitar licks.
Great backing tracks and mix.
This is something John Prine would sing and I say that as a big compliment.

Fabulous song but I REALLY didn't like the reverb/delay/spring slap part of the intro guitar.
It made more sense when the snare joined it but I'm still not a fan.

I like it. And I like how you grab things from your journeys and incorporate them into your writing.

My favorite of your is still Waterline. I have to drop in to your site periodically and have a listen to that one.

Hi Tom ...

What a terrific, cool song! I'm on listen #2 as I type this. Love the simplicity of the arrangement. Simplicity isn't all that easy if you're looking for a full sound. Yet you pull it off so perfectly.
welcome back, and thanks for giving us this treat.

Take care,

Alan

Lovely understated lyrics. Wonderful song, Tom.
My only sugg would be to try and downplay the first chorus a tad by leaving out something so as to build to the final choruses.
It may not work though. confused

Interesting story, amazingly good song.

Excellent vocals, guitar, lyrics, mix, melody, and a chorus that nails the part.

Wow. laugh

Ray thanks for liking the song. The delay on the slap was an attempt to accentuate the beat. Maybe it didn’t work as well as I intended but I like it, Tom

You meet such interesting people in your travels and then write songs that distill the essence of their stories into fine gems. This song is no exception. Janice said she is always reminded of Travels with Charley by Steinbeck. smile

We love the arrangement too and your voice just gets richer in timbre.
Excellent instrumental performances … of course.

Great production to present all of the above.

Welcome back Tom!

I was entertained by the story behind the song.

Your vocal is exceptional. I don't know which instruments in the mix are you, but the whole ensemble, in addition to the melody and vocal, drive the song.

I love this song, Tom! The vibe and production is awesome to say the least. I agree, it is a confusing life story the guy you met had, however, you did a great job making it universal with your lyrics. Great job!!

Tom,

Wow, what a cool groove on this—great arrangement, production and vocal. Not sure why but it reminds me of an Ed Sheehan type tune . . . with a country feel to it. Hard to keep the head from moving in time with that drum beat. Yeah, this is some first rate stuff . . . could and SHOULD be a hit on today’s radio. Super cool!

My very humble regards,

Deej
