Somewhere South Of Savannah

Isn’t it ironic saw it on the late night news

They said the world’s on fire

They’d put it out but there ain’t no use

Nights I don’t remember. Friends I won’t forget

all that seems so long ago

Now we’re the only one’s here that’s left

Somewhere south of Savannah I heard the same old song

she’s overlooked and misunderstood

I’m gonna miss her when she’s gone

Gotta make it north of Atlanta

Find a new place to start

Wipe off the dirt wipe off the hurt

From her handprint on my heart

If that’s the way she feels I don’t know if I can make it right

I’ve tried before I know what’s in store

and I don’t think it’s worth the fight

Isn’t it ironic saw it on the late night news

They said the world’s on fire

They’d put it out but there ain’t no use

Somewhere south of Savannah I heard the same old song

she’s overlooked and misunderstood

I’m gonna miss her when she’s gone

Gotta make it north of Atlanta

Find a new place to start

Wipe off the dirt wipe off the hurt

From her handprint on my heart

Big, in your face sound. Cool guitar licks. Catchy chorus. Great vocals.

The ending caught my by surprise!

I love everything about this. smile

Really excellent. The hook is so catchy, the lyrics are brilliant, the singing is top notch, with great harmonies. Should be on the radio. Well done.

Just perfect. Really enjoyed everything you've done here. Great song, killer vocals, tasteful production. Superb! Oh, and I met and married Mrs DC Ron "somewhere south of Savannah", so there's that. Ha!

Tom,

This is excellent - love the feel of this. I hear a hint of Levon Helm in your voice and performance. Very cool.

Loved it!

Tom,

WOW. Killer tracks and an AMAZING Mix.
Your mixes come through the speakers like NOBODY else (here). Truly a Pro sound.
I want to look over your shoulder and see how you manage that.
It is Something Special.

A very good write.
Nice vocals and harmonies.
Good musical lead.

"Somewhere south of Savannah I heard the same old song"
LOVE the hook/title AND the alliteration...

A great listen.

I love everything about this song, the guitar lick at the beginning captivates me and your vocals never let me go.
Pretty good mix, although I personally think the drums in the choruses are a bit too bright.
But overall the production is really good.
Well done!

COOK'N!
An amped up J.J.Cale or something like that.
LOUD but nothing's too loud or out of place.
From your list I assume you played bass on this as well.
Ace Bass...great tone for the song - stands up and holds its own.
Cool on all sorts of levels - the vocals - POIFEK t.

Thanks for the fine comments. I assume you may be talking about the cymbals in the choruses. I thought about taming them a bit then I decided it was passable as it was, Tom

That Mix! It both breathes well but also sounds BIG. Poppin' drums there.

Those Vocals! They are rich, resonant and full of soul. Yeah man.

Those Guitars! Always great to hear your fine chops and tone.

That Band! Excellent group of session guys you called in.

Those Lyrics! Amongst many great lines we loved:
“Wipe off the dirt wipe off the hurt
From her handprint on my heart”

Love the cover photo at SC too.

Enjoyed it hugely,

Tom,

Your are certainly on a roll . . . second song I’ve heard from you over the last few weeks that’s deserving of a very large audience. Nice guitar hook (and song hook) that just keeps this song resonating and power country chorus to go with. Pro mix. Oh boy, this one is really, really good. Excellent outing!

All my best,

Deej

Greg, those are some very complimentary comments that may be hard to live up to. The secret drum sauce involves waves CPA drums plug-in among other tweaks. Thanks, Tom
