Link: It Hurts

A few weeks ago, my mother died unexpectedly.
It's hard for me, but it's even harder to see my dad's pain.
Every morning when I sit with him in the kitchen and have breakfast, I can see this song in his eyes.

Thanks to Marty for linguistic advice and feedback in general.

Title: It Hurts

(Verse 1)
One kitchen chair is empty now
The one you used to sit on
You always showed up with a smile
Like the first sunray after a long rainy day
Oh no, you are gone
Gone
Gone

(Bridge)
The clock down the stair
Is still ticking away the time
But for whom, if you're not there
You're not there

(Chorus 1)
It hurts
It hurts
It hurts to be left behind
It hurts
Oh, it hurts
It hurts to be the one
Who has to carry on

(Verse 2)
No one does prepare you for a moment like this
From a life full of joy, a life of bliss
It's over now
I can't go on
I don't know why
I should go on

(Pre)
Life is over without you
Without you

(Chorus 2)
It hurts
It hurts
It hurts to be left behind
It hurts
Oh, it hurts
It hurts to be the one
Who has to carry on

(Outro)
Oh, it hurts
It hurts
It hurts
Oh, I'm so angry and lost
It hurts

Brian,

SO very sorry for your loss.

Your song is pure, raw emotion laid out on the page.
Heartbreaking.

I wish you and your family... healing

Beautiful song, B.D.

My mom just passed away a few weeks ago too, December 1st. Different deal though, in her case it was a long, slow decline so we knew it was coming.

Thanks for the song, and all the best to you and your dad.

Brain, first sorry for your loss.

Second all I can say is WOW!
I can feel your pain.
That verse is so true.

Loved it.

Brian,

So sorry for your loss. My hearts goes out to you.

This so is beautiful. Is that you on vocals? It sounds really good. (If it is a synth it sounds incredibly real.)

I wish you comfort and healing in the days ahead, my friend.

Di and I wish you and your family strength and peace as the days come and go.

The vocal so vividly reveals the pain. You have captured the dark pit such a loss puts you in. A well-done song about a a very sad event.

Hello Brian
I am very sorry that you and your family are so sad now.
But as a musician you did the right thing. You wrote a song about it.
That's exactly what helped me to find my way out of the endless sadness.
And you know what? This must not have been the last song about your mother.
I hope that your sadness will soon give way to the joy of having had such a great mother.
She would definitely be very proud of you and wouldn't want you to be sad.

One sentence about your song:
You have really written an extremely emotional song that gives an idea of how you are feeling at the moment.
But where things end, something new begins and when I heard how fantastically you sang this song,
I really wonder why you have your songs sung by AI voices!!!

My brother Wolfgang and I wish you and your family a lot of strength
and all the best to get through these difficult times

Many greetings
Andi ;-)

The mark of a true poet: sums up the important message in a single word.
Thank you, Floyd.

As I wrote in the lyrics, no one can really prepare you for something like this, no matter how it happens.

What a great song to express how you feel now. Sorry for your loss, I can feel your pain in my heart. Those words are truly powerful and describe the loss so personally. Very emotional vocal performance.

All your songs are creative and speak to me, but this one speaks especially more.

Wow B.D., I don't know how you did it, but you did it masterfully. The emotion comes through with every syllable. I'm very sorry for your pain, your dad's pain and the loss of your mother. She has left behind a son who has now shared some of her memory with all of us, and I thank you for it. Hang in there. Eventually the sun will shine again, and as in your song, you will be able to see her smile like the first sunray after a long rainy day.

B.D.,

So sorry for your loss . . . so tough to lose a parent, tougher yet to lose a spouse. A sad tune . . . but for me, they always seem the best, simply because the emotion is real and true; happy songs rarely touch the soul in the same way. This is excellent . . . in all aspects from the write and the production.

So, the vocal is what takes this over the top for me . . . I know you typically use vocaloids, but that’s not what this is, is it? (There are breaths and pauses that I don’t associate with vocaloids). But regardless, a terrific vocal that makes this shine.

Good stuff

You so beautifully expressed your loss and we, among so many, have felt such grief and witnessed one of our parents coping with such a loss.
Janice read the lyric before listening and said, “he is right, you’re never really prepared.”
We hope that the memory of your Mama’s smile gives your comfort and that time helps to ease your heartache.

It is a fine production in all aspects.

Since my wife is younger and my kids are healthy, I'm hopeful (and praying) that I will never feel worse pain than that for the rest of my life. The pain never goes away but it does get better and fond memories eventually can make you smile and laugh. So sorry for your loss. VERY nice tribute. Take care. Greg
