I've always heard that in order for it to be a true country song, it has to talk about drinking, trains, Mama, or trucks. Well, I wrote a "tear jerker" about a man with a love with his truck.

She Took My Truck

I parked it right over there, under that old oak tree,
My truck meant the world, it was a part of me.
But now it’s gone, cuts me to the bone,
She drove it away, and left me all alone.
Chorus:
She took my truck, my heart went along,
Now I’m stuck here singing, this sad ol country song,
She left her tire marks, on my shattered dreams,
She took my truck, and tore apart my seams.

I just can’t believe it, now I am so low,
With every mile she takes, my heartache only grows,
She didn’t leave a note, just left me in the dark,
Now I’m standing here staring, at a car old as the ark.

She took my truck, my heart went along,
Now I’m stuck here singing, this sad ol country song,
She left her tire marks, on my shattered dreams,
She took my truck, and tore apart my seams.

She left her tire marks, on my shattered dreams,
she took my truck, and tore apart my seams.

Hey, Ronnie, this sounds GREAT! Just a nice, solid country tune. LOVE the harmonies and BGVs. Took me back a few years to some nice memories of a different musical time. THANKS for posting!

Good country song with some really nice vocal harmonies.
Your vocals could be a bit louder though.
Enjoyed the listen!

Great ol' country song Ronnie. Love the idea of it too. My old truck finally broke down beyond repair several months ago, and I haven't replaced it yet ... reckon I'm still in mourning. I agree with BD, the lead vocal could come up a notch or two.

Ronnie...I sold my truck about a year ago and now when I go to Lowes or Menards I feel naked...classic country sound and production...I also think your vocal should come up in volume a tad...love the harmonies and the guitar solo (is that a BiaB real track?)...I really enjoyed it! Dan

Catchy tune in classic country style. The vocals a bit too quiet sometimes though.

Ronnie, You nailed it! This is country when country was good. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Tom

Ronnie

That's some fine country music right there! It just proves you don't have to bring a fifth of whiskey, a case of beer or chasing women into the equation to make a country song work! Really good Ronnie just raise the lead vocal volume a tad!

Take care, TB

Good one Ronnie!

You nailed it man!

I guess you and I are competing for the break up song of the week around here.

Hi, Ronnie.

Perfect title, excellent write, good vocal and BGVs.

The only problem is the vocals are so quiet in places they get drowned out by the instruments.

Bring up the vocals, and you've got the perfect country song... even without mentioning beer! smile

Hi Ronnie,

Typing this as I listen for the 2nd time. When I first started playing professionally (1963), this is what we did. It would have fit in perfectly. I cut my playing teeth on music like this. - pre Buck Owens and Merle Haggard.

Terrific song and delivery. Liked it a lot!

Take care,

Alan

Ha!! Love it, Ronnie. Saw the title and knew it was country. The singer seems to know that her being gone might be worth the loss of his truck. Seems a bit happy with the melody. Yet he also knows that it's easier to replace that gal than it is to replace that truck. Really cool song, Ronnie. So well done.

Ronnie, old time country done perfectly.
Great vocal, although it should be a tad louder.
Great lyrics.
You should do more in this genre.

Great song, Ronnie. Perfect lyrics for a classic style country song!

Ah, can't beat a bit of old Hag country.
Your vocal could be raised a little though as it's getting lost in the mix.
