Here's a little song I wrote about thumbing a ride to the California beaches!!

California Bound

Packed my bags, left my worries behind,
on a dusty road, with a hitchhiker's sign.
Thumb in the air hoping for a ride,
to that California coast where my dreams reside.
Chorus:
California bound chasing the sun,
cruising down the highway just having fun,
gonna find a place where the ocean meets the sky,
California bound, I'm ready to fly.

The wind in my hair and the cars passing by,
strangers become friends under the sky.
With a guitar in my hand and a song in my heart,
I'll strum and sing as the miles depart.

California bound chasing the sun,
cruising down the highway just having fun,
gonna find a place where the ocean meets the sky,
California bound, I'm ready to fly.

Bridge:
Palm trees and beaches that's where I belong,
in the land of dreams where I'll sing my song.
The west coast is calling, it's time to be free,
California's waiting, it's beckoning me.

California bound chasing the sun,
cruising down the highway just having fun,
gonna find a place where the ocean meets the sky,
California bound, I'm ready to fly.
California bound, I'm ready to fly.

Cool trip, Ronnie. Yep, I remember when hitchhiking wasn't so dangerous. Good vocal and a really good happy song with hope.

Cool tune, Ronnie! Man, those were the days. Nice rockabilly style with all the right stops and harmonies. I'm ready to go on a road trip myself now! Will have to put this tune on the old 8-track...

This is a super pop song.
Great vocal, groove, and mix.
PS - I definitely wouldn't hitch hike today!

Hi Ronnie ... Man, I played a lot of this type of music back in the '60s and early '70s. Terrific song that perfectly catches the era.

Well, I eventually ended up in California for about 5 years - Bakersfield. And yep, met Buck Owens. My former wife knew him well. She went to school with one of his sons and visited at his house on several occasions.

You really captured the sounds and ideas of the era! Nicely done!

Best to you,

Alan

PS: On Saturday, I'll be posting a song I put together for you and another Forum member.

That’s fun! The below is sorta what we hear beckoning us except the beckons are from Colorado. 😊

“The west coast is calling, it's time to be free,
California's waiting, it's beckoning me.”

We enjoyed the trip, Ronnie, and could see those blue skies and ocean waves clearly.

It's good to hear you rock out and let loose, Ronnie! I love that chorus. Very memorable. You've captured the mood of that time longs since passed.

Super cool Ronnie, I love it! For some reason the volume dips at about 53 seconds or so. I like the wright, great groove, and I always like the way you use a pedal steel guitar!
