Greetings friends.

Just a little cell phone video of me playing along to Band In A Box. This tune uses a style called "_SJAZZP1.STY. Smooth Jazz Poppy Rhythm" which consists of the following real tracks:

RD: SMOOTHJAZZPOPPY^4-a:Sidestick, HiHat , b:Snare HiHat :Franklin (Third) Richardson
RT909: Bass, Electric, SmoothPoppy Ev16 090 , Vernon Barbary
RT912: Piano, Electric, Rhythm SmoothPoppy Ev16 090 , Jeff Lorber
RT1236: Guitar, Electric, Rhythm SmoothJazzPoppy Ev16 090 , Dwight Sills

This tune was recorded in one take (warts and all! smile ) using the audio record feature in BiaB, and then the audio was merged with the video in Windows Movie Maker.

Cheese Powered Cheese

Thanks for watching,
Dan

Dan,

Who could resist that title. LOL!

That is one sweet sounding sax. The song and RT's you put together was a cool laid back listen.

I really enjoyed watching and hearing you play.

Sweet chops on that tenor!! Very nicely done in every way (song, arrangement, mix). Love the way that sax sings! Take care. Greg

Thanks!

The title popped into my head as I was taking a break and eating a piece of cheese. As I munched on my cheese, it occurred to me that I was fueling my cheesy song with actual cheese - Cheese Powered Cheese so to speak. laugh

Thanks, Greg. I'm trying to get a little bit of my sax chops back. I haven't played it seriously for a number of years now. This little ditty is (hopefully) a small step on the way to becoming a better sax player.

Thanks very much. I am pleased with the results, and I have learned a few things about making a video, as well. This is only my third attempt at making a vid. Each one seems to get a little better than the last. I hope the trend continues. Lol

Thanks for watching,
Dan

Hi Dan,

very pleasing tune and arrangement.
You got a very good lip after some years of break.
I enjoyed this very much.
The video adds a lot of entertainment.
Please keep on doing this.

Hi Dan
So nice to see a video posted of you playing along to Band in a Box in your home studio.
Very nice!

Hi Dan,

Well, if you can play like that, you definitely don't need the Sax Soloists in Biab!
Quite some equipment there too.
Good job!

We've always thought the sax was the instrument
closest to the human voice and you can certainly
make it sing. We enjoyed it all...your playing,
the RT's and the mix.

Sounds great on our monitors!

I really enjoyed that, always great to see someone play live.

Good to see the ole patchbay is still in use. laugh

Definitely a relaxing listen

Thank you very much, Guenter. I've been spending a little bit of time practicing, and slowly but surely things are starting to come back. There will definitely be more in the future. I'm trying to get enough videos together to make a DVD for my 82 year old mother who has been bugging me to play more saxophone. I'd just send her to YouTube, but she doesn't even have a computer let alone internet access. grin

Here's a couple of my earlier attempts if you're interested.

Washing Machine Blues

Thanks, Rob and Anne-Marie. One of these days I'm going to sit down with the soloist tracks and maybe steal a few licks. wink

The video only shows about half of the gear I have setup. There's a 2 more keyboards and my DAW in front of me. I'm a bit of a pack-rat, it seems.

Aww shucks. You guys have me blushing now! blush Thanks very much. I agree that the saxophone is very much like the human voice in sound and expressiveness. As an added bonus, when I practice the sax my singing also improves. They both use the same breathing and support techniques.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, Alyn. Thanks!

I used to be an electronics tech, so when I was offered a free patch bay by a friend, the inner nerd in me had to have it. It really does save a lot of messing around with cables.

Thanks for watching,
Dan

Dan,
Nice tune and Sax soloing. I am glad to hear you're getting back to the sax. It's great that we have BIAB to back us up on a moment's notice. I look forward to the next one.

I'm late to the party but I am super glad that I made it. Although everything that I wanted to say has already been said I will say that is some outstanding sax playing!

PS - I like your studio also!

The title made me click, lol.

I love the Smooth Jazz Styles in Biab. I also love that awesome Sax you are making sing. Great tone, sound and tasty licks all combine for some nice ear candy.

Soulful.

Thanks, Trax. I'm just starting to explore the smooth jazz stuff, and so far I'm impressed.

Is this the same Trax I used to talk to on PSRTutorial? If so, hi! Long time no see.

Thanks for listening,
Dan
