This one has an odd form, if any at all. You can decide if there's a verse and a chorus or what.

Back story, a violent storm rolled through the area at mid-morning one day last year. I was home alone. Sometime later the song-idea light bulb illuminated:)

THE STORM

Copyright © 2015 by Scott H. Olson

Well the storm blew through this town around ten a.m.
Wreaked a little havoc, caused a little more mayhem
Yeah, the power went out, but the beer was cold
So I had me quite an episode

When the storm blew through this town around ten a.m.

Them ol' dark clouds swallowed the sun
Running for cover I thought I was done
When the rain poured down overflowing the ditches
I found high ground right there in the kitchen
Where that fridgidaire, a side by side
Stood with all the tall-boys chillin' inside

When the storm blew through this town around ten a.m.

I gave her a listen.

I think this a pretty good write.
Your vocal has good quality, very well delivered with good imagery.
IE: " Where that fridgidaire, a side by side
Stood with all the tall-boys chilllin' inside". smile

I want to say the honky tonk piano could come up a db but I'm listening on my laptop so that may be too presumptuous of me.

Well done...do carry on.

Hi Scott,
Very cool song! Everything fits together and you did a great job with the stops (I really like that part). Very clean and professional sound and mix. Your vocal is outstanding and the lyrics tell an interesting story. I enjoyed listening.

Very nice groove and a cool idea......

BUT.....

It's only halfway finished. I wasn't halfway through the first verse when this thought hit me.

You need a verse #2 that talks about the "storm" being a woman, most likely your woman, who is seeking some revenge on you for being out a bit too late and coming home a bit to inebriated.... put a bit of a twist on the metaphor about a storm.

That is one of the most clever rhymes I've ever heard!! This is a really fun and clever song. Well done in every way. Vocal is great, mix is sweet and arrangement sounds very natural. Great job!! Take care. Greg

This is a first class delivery. Had my toe tapping right from the start. There's really nothing to not like about this little beauty. Your vocals are first class, and choice of RealTracks is the icing on the cake.

I agree with all. This is a very cool tune and an awesome vocal delivery

Scott, I like the write and the vocal is amazing. I felt like the instrumental break lacked a cohesive solo. It sounded like just harmonica fills. The mix is excellent. Very well put together and I enjoyed it a lot. Tom

Hi Scott.

Absolutely superb - I loved that.

I always like a song with a story and this is a great one with a bit of humour thrown in.

The mix has a lot of punch, but it's still crystal clear and not over compressed. All the instruments work well together and support an excellent vocal.

A great track.

Hi Scott,
The title hooked me. I just had to give it a listen.
Great story. That's usually what I do too when the power goes out; start drinking the beer.
Loved the song.

"Well the storm blew through this town around ten a.m.

Greg's already mentioned that line but it deserves another
as it is immediately memorable. Everything here is in
the pocket and the band is hittin' the note.

This is a fine production that is right in our wheelhouse
and had an immediate add to our SC playlist.

Really, really good!

J&B

EDIT: Janice just reminded me that recently when our
refrigerator bit the dust we got our priorities in order
and put the beer on ice. Craft brews I might add smile

And we just listened again. Great tune!!

Really good production and a unique storyline. Good stuff.

This would be a good pitch to Allstate Insurance to go with their "Mr. Mayhem" character commercials.

Thanks. I automated the piano volume throughout and tried to bring it up for those right-hand parts.

Thanks, Sonny. I really didn't know where I was going with this one, but I guess BiaB did:)

Yeah, Herb, I toyed with that theme too. There was going to be backyard pool party with me and all the neighbor ladies who were in the same predicament. Then I decided to just let the listener make up their own story:)

Hey we just went through an ice storm so I can relate!!!

Great tune.

I distinctly hear a verse chorus structure, though not typical of today, still very much a verse chorus structure of classic country where the chorus does not have to be exactly the same words each time.

The lift and flow was excellent though, also the lyrics and production.

I was experimenting with endings in BiaB and hadn't planned on that tag at all, but it seemed to belong. Glad you liked it.

I appreciate that, Floyd. I feel like my mixing has improved and my producer's ear has developed enough to get decent results fairly quickly now. Still working on it though. Thanks again for the feedback.

I suppose singing is what I enjoy the most, so it means a lot when someone tells me they enjoy it too. Thank you.

Scott I have listened to this a few times on Soundcloud and only now noticed I have not been here.
I am also listening to it in the middle of a storm, 70+mph winds and torrential rain so this is a perfect backdrop laugh
Excellent vocals and choice of Rts, I thought the harmonica was perfect with the short reprise at the end.

All in all that was a good rockin' tune and it sounded good LOUD

excellent I look forward to more

That was my first thought as well, cool song though by itself.
