Hi All,
[Link no longer valid]
The sun burns low
In the morning sky
All those Chelsea Girls
Well, they were getting high
And reborn
So we mourn
Oh Nico, Nico on the midnight radio
The mist runs cold
On the dirty town
All those nightclub days
Well, they were underground
And downstream
So it seems
Oh Nico, Nico on the midnight radio
The snow falls hard
In the evening light
All those Greenwich ghosts
Well, they were taking flight
And in step
So unkept
Oh Nico, Nico on the midnight radio
The moon looks down
On the troubled souls
All those gothic girls
Well, they were growing old
And too soon
So in tune
Oh Nico, Nico on the midnight radio

Dang Bob ... I don't know where you come with your ideas but I hope that well never runs dry! This is a great song. It's your signature sound and I love it! It's always a treat when you post a new song. Once the song "gets into it", there's a lot going on but you handle it to perfection. Everything is in it's right place and perfectly balanced. What a great song and performance!
And that first verse sets the tone about as good as it could be done - great lyric!
Best to you,
Alan
Bob, what a great song! As always I instantly felled in love with your vocal performance.. you are just sounding so awesome when singing!
Thanks a lot for sharing!
Will
Bob,
Urban reggae?
Cool free style tune!
Tremolo strings was a very nice touch.
In some strange way, it reminds me of a band G. Love & Special Sauce.
Thank you for sharing!
Misha.
Bob
Great stuff. Intelligent articulate and enjoyable.
Keep 'em coming.
Peter
Nice folky song with modern arrangement and very tight mix. You have created very catchy rhythm with those acoustic guitars, the baritone guitar and organ give an extra spice.
Janne
Alan,
That was an incredibly kind review. I really appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment.
Bob
Have to comment on the mix first. Loved the panning on this song. Sounds very cool on the head phones. Backtrack has such a cool feel to it. Another super vocal and lyric. Well done Bob...
Will,
I appreciate that - thank you!
Bob
love the groove and mix
have you written about Nico before?
maybe it was a reference in another song
flows so well lyrically
another very good and really cool song!
Kenny
Pretty cool song Bob...
I had to do an Internet search to get the background on Nico...
Afterwards, when I played your song again the lyrics took on a special meanings...
Good job & thanks for getting me to search for things I didn't know.
Loved it, boy was I into the banana album BITD. Lyrics reminded me of Lou's Rock and Roll, in their apotheosis of radio. Nicely done again.
Misha said it - urban reggae.
You've got a unique voice, and your productions are always excellent. This song is no different - well sung, and an engaging listen.
Excellent topic.
Your vocal treatment does sound a little like midnight FM.
Very interesting lyrics - the use of unkept has me puzzled though.
Reggae was, supposedly, a result of late night weak and partially scrambled soul music on the radio.
Well done.
Janne,
Much appreciated - thanks.
Bob
Bob,
You are producing one good song after another. All top-shelf stuff, consistently SOLID...with a very cohesive, signature sound...
Excellent. Again.
fj
What a tune! Superbly catchy and the mix is excellent. Your vocals fit perfectly with the backing tracks and that chorus is a definite earworm. Flows effortlessly well and has some solid lyrics to boot.
Wouldn't change a thing
Thanks for sharing!
Great work on this rsdean! Really dig the vocals they are very imaginative for the mood. Well done!
really enjoyed this track thank you
Kenny said: "have you written about Nico before? maybe it was a reference in another song"
Is it Nico from the Velvet Underground? Referenced in Midnight Radio...the song? How cool.
Man, that is a wonderful song. Diggin' the groove, the vocal and the incredible lyric.
Gotta send a link of this to a couple of friends who will love it...as we do!
J&B
Scott,
Thanks - very appreciated!
Bob
Kenny,
Yes, Nico has been a reference in another song of mine. I am a big fan of The Velvet Underground, Nico, etc.
Thanks so much for the kind comments.
Bob
Bob,
Go ahead and write about Nico ( & the Velvets) as often as the muse allows- especially if they are as catchy and cool as this song!
Love the style you chose and the authenticity of the lyrics to that time... and of course that signature voice.
Excellent work.
Robert
Bob,
Another slick and original tune . . . great production here. Great stuff!
All the best,
Deej
Well-written and well-delivered. Original and accessible. Very nice one.
Jim,
Thanks - I appreciate that.
Bob
TuneMonger,
Thanks very much.
Bob
David,
That's very kind - thank you.
Bob
This really captures the spirit of the original V.U. I especially like the way the guitar came in, made its statement, then faded away, much like Nico's vocal style.
Bob,
You are the man!
I wish we had gotten together when I was living in NYC in the 80s and 90s and partied down on Houston Street.
One of us would not have lived to tell the tale though, obviously.
Remind me to tell you about the time I missed a chance to dance with Blondie. I could shoot myself for that one.
Ah, so many memories...
Ray,
Thanks - much appreciated.
"Unkept" in this context is uncared for.
Bob
Floyd,
Thanks so much - appreciate the support as always.
Bob
Deryk,
Thanks very much.
Bob
Joe,
Much appreciated - thanks.
Bob
Brad,
Thank you - it is appreciated.
Bob
Oh, I like this!
Has your signature sound but a different groove than I'm used to hearing from you. Love the sound of that baritone guitar!
Great song as usual, only complaint was it ended too quickly.
Cool tune Bob!! I hear kind of a Lou Reed vibe in it, which is a GOOD thing! You have developed such a cool sound....always love hearing your songs!!! Take care. Greg
This has an addictive rhythmic hop and bounce. Melody stays with me. As I think I've said before with your other work --strong lyrics.
Janice & Bud,
Thanks so much - your support means a lot.
Bob
Robert,
Thanks very much.
Bob
Tangmo,
Thanks very much.
Bob
Ed,
Thanks - much appreciated.
Bob
David,
I can picture it now... LOL!
Thanks so much.
Bob
Hi Bob,
This is such a terrific, feel-good vibe that it made listening very easy and very pleasant.
Once again, I enjoyed sailing along with you on the currents of melody.
All the best,
Noel
Catchy tune with great lyrics again Bob! Man do you turn these out fast! Wish I could do that! Thanks, Torrey
