Hello! Happy to share that I used some BIAB tracks to create my song, The End of the Ocean: The End of the Ocean https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_urqALNabU

The song is part of a project I released in December called Otta Sotta: The End of the Ocean; the songs were inspired by the destruction of the ocean and the work of Canadian conservationist and author Farley Mowat.

I can't tell you the exact tracks I used at this point but I combined a basic Real Tracks strum with my own guitar playing; used the solo piano Real Track; and added one of the heavy metal guitar Real Tracks to fill out the end of the song.

I use Garageband and really appreciate Band in a Box for helping me realize the completion of a project that had been in the works for years.

First of all, welcome to the showcase!

Love your voice, nice tone and vibrato. This song has a celtic vibe to me. The stripped down approach works I think, but a bodhran might be a nice addition too.

Good song, enjoyed!

Thanks for listening, Dave! I had to look up what a bodhran is, great suggestion.

Hi, Floyd and thanks for the kind words! Apologies as I don't think I got back to your message but I'm here now!

Welcome to the showcase - and nice work on the tune smile I agree with Dave earlier on - definitely getting a celtic vibe, which is never a bad thing. The vocals are top notch also.

Looking forward to hearing more - thanks for sharing!

Laura, you have a very strong voice and it blends perfectly with the backing tracks. The mix is spot on and the lyrics are something that we all should hear.

Hi Laura, LOVE your voice, and as Dave mentioned earlier, it has a strong Celtic feel to it and I should know LOL.
I'd like to hear some folk fiddle added with maybe some soft strings in the chorus ? Looking forward to hearing more from you

powerful lungs with a hint of Toni Childs: though without the strangulation.
I'd love to read the lyric.
Excellent song & arrangement.

Welcome to the forum and a very good entry indeed.

We enjoyed the vocal build as it was effective in delivering
the message. And your soulful vocal sounded excellent
and was well recorded. The somewhat sparse backing
tracks were a good choice for the lyric.

Enjoyed it.

Wow thank you all for your feedback!
The song is part of a project with a longer (much longer!) video about ocean conservation - please be aware there is some explicit whaling footage between the 18-20 min mark if you check it out:

Interesting note about the celtic feel of the song - I hadn't thought of that before! I mixed it myself and attempted to master, so I'm happy to hear the mix came across all right.
I must admit I hadn't listened to Toni Childs before so currently checking her out!

Lyrics to The End of the Ocean

Birds fold into the sea
Next to a rocky beach
Do they realize their fate?
Or are they very much aware?

That there's less and less that's left
To bring back to their rat-infested nests

It wasn't always like this
There used to room for gulls
With rooks on caves and cliff-sides
Invaded and raided beyond control

Chorus:
Is this the end of the ocean?
Can we save what remains?
What have we done to the water?
Is this the end of everything?

Upon the bloody shoals
We take and take and take
The scarcer it becomes
The more money that we make

It wasn't always like this
Nature was free to behave its way
The ships they just got bigger
Spears, nets, hooks and oil devoured their prey

Chorus

Laura,
An impressive and passionate response in music to what you are seeing- my kind of protest .
Congratulations on completing your project!
I listened to the songs and found your vocals consistently strong and engaging - the simple arrangements serve the songs well.

This is an impressive work, and I can only imagine how much time and effort went into it. I really respect and admire your efforts to bring attention to an issue that affects millions of people around the world. I especially liked the song "Is This the End of the Ocean" and the vocals were really stunning on that one. I am always impressed be people that lyrics to a song together that sound natural and tell a story, and you've really got it down.

I really enjoyed the music and the message and I hope others feel the same. Thanks for sharing smile

So happy you all took the time to listen to the song, and some even to the whole project! Thank you so much.
I did release the project on Bandcamp with all proceeds going directly to Sea Shepherd. Hopefully it does some good smile
