God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

God Rest Ye Merry Gentle Men

I had recently completed mixing and producing a Christmas EP with my daughter Jubilee Reed.
It is out now on Spotify.
So I decided to get in on the fun with a Christmas tune too.

Jubilee sings some nice background vocals.
I’m singing and playing my Taylor guitar.
The Bliss Road House Band (BIAB) does the rest along with a bit of help from MT Power Drumkit.

Enjoy!

God rest ye merry, gentlemen
Let nothing you dismay
Remember, Christ, our Saviour
Was born on Christmas day
To save us all from Satan's power
When we were gone astray
O tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

From God our Heavenly Father
A blessed Angel came
And unto certain Shepherds
Brought tidings of the same
How that in Bethlehem was born
The Son of God by Name
O tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

Now to the Lord sing praises
All you within this place
And with true love and brotherhood
Each other now embrace
This holy tide of Christmas
All other doth deface
O tidings of comfort and joy
Comfort and joy
O tidings of comfort and joy

Well done, Marty. Excellent band, and the vocals are wonderful. That Taylor sounds sweet.

Marty,

An interesting "modern" take on a classic. Fun to hear folks do that.

I like your interpretation of the song. I like your daughter's last notes at the end.

I'm working on this same song here and there when I get any spare time. I see we aren't using the same BIAB tracks though.

I just got the new CLA Epic plugin. It has a setting called "enormous".
I made an extra track with just the very last part and put the effect on it for the big ending. I'm pleased with how it turned out.

Hey thanks for listening and looking forward to your version too!

Fantastic! I'm a big fan of the Bare Naked Ladies' version, and this is right up there with it. That ending slays me!

Wow what a cool version of the song. Well done. Very cool vocal and backtracks. I got the Barenaked Ladies vibe as well
