Here is our latest song. Robert gave Ray and I the backtrack and test vocal for this song. It had a very tricky rhythm to it at the beginning. Ray and I passed ideas back and forth from one side of the world to the other and it became what you hear now. Robert did the final vocal and I added the guitar solo and Ray did the bass and rhythm guitar tracks.

Youtube Ray developed a video for the song.

We also have a guest musician who helped out out with the outro. He is very well known on the forum. Please welcome Misha aka Rustyspoon.

Of course we have our other faithful musician Bandi Nabox who laid down the drums and Organ Track

Dictators Dance

Napoleon hides his hand in his shirt
Vladimir plotting behind a smirk
Sadam Hussein munching Doritos
Mussolini chats up Pol Pot and Tito

big it up with gold go mad for marble
a myth size mirror let music sparkle
take your partners in the palace of pain
dictator`s dancing round my brain
coup coup coming for you

Noriega cuts the rug with the CIA
Imelda`s new shoes get in the way
the fuhrer can`t lead if you won`t follow
that Vienneses waltz is hard to swallow

big it up with gold go mad for marble
a myth size mirror let music sparkle
coup coup coming for you
take your partners in the palace of pain
dictator`s dancing round my brain
coup coup coming for you

lifestyles of the kitsch and famous
we are revolting who can blame us
pigs are taking over the farm
up on two legs with style and charm

big it up with gold go mad for marble
a myth size mirror let music sparkle
coup coup coming for you
take your partners in the palace of pain
dictator`s dancing round my brain

Thanks Robert & Scott for another chance to play along.
Special thanks to Misha for his special sauce.
It's a very simple video...

I like the style of music and melody you have chosen. It is different from what I am used to and well worth the listen. Great playing!
Spirit Level continues to raise their level - and their member count!!

Cool sound. Cool song. Interesting write.

Robert's vocal sounds great.

Nice mix. Guitars are well done.

Gentlemen ...

A very nice composition. A little different than what we typically hear on the forum - and different in a most delightful way. A clever play on words and equally interesting music. You guys have a really nice sound. I enjoyed this a lot! Hopijg all of you have a terrific 2021. Take care.

Spirit Level

Nice one, entertaining and clever. Nice intro Scott, and Roberts vocal was engaging.
Enjoyed Ray's bass and Misha's part.

Well done by all involved.

Wow, gentlemen, that collab is just raging madness... So creative, so good, so different, so fascinating - hats off!

I think everybody involved did a terrific job. And Ray, the video fits the song so well - awesome job, too.

Looking forward to what will come out of you devils' kitchen next...

Stay safe, guys,

Stefan
Well, that takes a deep listen to fully appreciate--there's so much packed in! I especially liked that attention-grabbing intro, then the solo area, and the collaboration between forum stars. I decree---great work to be universally enjoyed--or else!!!
Excellent collaboration guys!!!! Bandi Nabox! Love it! Great vocal. Man, you guys really have a special polish that shines! Nice addition of Misha, too! Worth a thousand listens.

The polish was probably Scott's mastering...he did a fine job.
Yes, Misha is always the right secret sauce.
This was catchier than I'm used to hearing from Spirit Level, which was welcome. Really enjoyed the intro and the lead vox. Great job all the way around, actually. Big thumbs up from me.
Thanks to everyone who checked out the song. Your comments are very much appreciated. This was one of our more complicate songs due to the time. Took quite a few takes to get the feel of the song but one we started to lock in I think it because a very cool song. Took us up a notch musically I think. Special thanks to Misha for helping out with the song.
Hey Spirit Level (and Misha),

Very different but very good offering. Reminiscent of a Talking Heads tune with a hint of R.E.M. (for me at least). Vocals sit really well in the mix—really creative on the outro. Great collaboration, gents!

Have a Happy New Year,

Deej

Both remarkably creative ... and scary.

Robert, great compassionate vocal and an amazing write.

Ray your videos are always eagerly anticipated but this is over the top good.

Scott, the guitar work is impeccable the way it fits the write and vocal.

Ray, your bass put the vibe on lock down!

Misha, a helluva outro!

WTG!!! You four!

Wow. Now that was a collaborative masterpiece---an adventurous late 60s trip. Each bit each of you contributed made for one stunning production. Did I say that I liked it? cool
