Hi to all,

Yes it has been a long time, but I was busy playing out live – sadly no longer an option for the moment.
Delighted to offer the forum my new track For now and forever

The YouTube video can be found here

I have noticed that ‘story’ songs invariably grab the attention so I set out to write one with as much of a twist as I could get within a 4 minute pop song.

I use Band-in-a-Box (an antique all MIDI version) to help in the composition and structuring but in this case only the drums remain on the finished mix. I continue to use PTPA as my main music software.

Warning! Unusually for this forum, there are no guitars!

Thanks for listening and for your comments.

All the best

Marc

Hi Marc. Nice to see you posting again.
I found some of the the effects a little odd,
but it all works well. All the best Rob4580

The soft vocal could use some manual de-essing as the sibilant sounds are almost louder than the vocal - that's mainly a result of the reverb/delay.
This has a very early 80s Euro disco feel like Twist in St Tropez.
Gentle Midi disco.

Thanks Ray. I'll try that on the lead vocal track.
No idea what song you're referring to!

OMG, No Guitars!
Marc, interesting tune. Cool vocal and FX. Reminded me of some Depeche Mode tunes.
I would lower high frequencies somewhat. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Marc.

The mix works in headphones, but doesn't seem to translate to other settings.

As Misha mentioned, the high end seems to be missing.

Nice write, as intended, very 80's! I enjoyed hearing the story.

Did you intend the song to cut off as it did?

THanks David,
I thought the suggestion was to bring the high frequencies down. Anyway, I've put the original mix back up on SoundCloud - as you point out, I'd forgotten to put the fade out onto the revised version in Audacity!
THanks for listening - nice to see you again!

Interesting story song, Marc. No guitars? Another interesting choice. Not your typical 89s song, and I like it.
