So, I mentioned on a forum somewhere I love to jam around with Video Tracks, which allow you to make jamming music videos of Brent and his buddies (and others) that you can plug into your DAW to jam with. Super fun. This came out of one of those extended jams. Jamming is how I write.

Also, this is my first song with BIAB 2022. There are some WICKED sounds and styles in there for doing modern country. I'm just saying. They are raising the bar over there at PG. smile

WHISKEY TOWN

V1

Feels like heaven
but it can't be right
I never wake up while it's still light
got too many women who said goodbye
and I can't remember
what I did last night

PC

daddy said stay home
mama said don't go
But if I had listened
I wouldn't know
oh no, oh no

CH

It's hard to know your place
and it's hard to stand your ground
and I think you lose your mind
and you leave yourself behind
In Whiskey Town

V2

All I needed
was a whole lot of fun
Then I got cooked until I was done

PC

daddy said stay home
mama said don't go
But if I had listened, y'all
I wouldn't know
oh no, oh no

CH

It's hard to know your place
and it's hard to stand your ground
and I think you lose your mind
and you leave yourself behind
In Whiskey Town

Bridge

Yeah I know
I should leave Whiskey Town behind
go to church, find a girl
who can read the Bible
between the lines, yeah I should
Cause I can't hear a thing
my ears are ringing and I think I've gone half blind
But even worse than that
I've completely lost my mind

PC

daddy said stay home
mama said don't go
But if I had listened, y'all
I wouldn't know
oh no, oh no

CH

It's hard to know your place
and it's hard to stand your ground
and I think you lose your mind
and you leave yourself behind
In Whiskey Town
Oh oh
I think you lose your mind in Whiskey Town

That riffy chiming guitar on the left is interesting.
Whiskey Town has lots of tension through the difference in tempo from that riff and the rest...it works for the narrative too.
Contrasts well with Thing For You that follows too.

Yep, you nailed contemporary country.

Nice work with those RTs

Great blend and good vocal

I got a Willie sings today's country vibe

Two thumbs up

Hi, David.

Nice song - lyrically it works for me. Interesting blend of guitars as well.

One nit - I found the guitars slowly going up in volume during the chorus off-putting. If you wanted to get the effect of someone going insane with the noise in his head drowning everything out, you nailed it.

Looks like others disagree with me there, so take the comment with the large grain of salt it should be taken with. wink

Hi David
Cool song
The background track is really well done
Vocals fit great to it
Only a more powerful bass it could have been
Good work David
Many greetings
Andi ;-)

Hi David,

In a way your singing reminds me of Bob Bylan. At first hearing I had to get used to it, but then it started to sound more and more interesting. That's what I always had with BD too.
And the funny part is i heard a lot of your songs and always they began to interest me from somewhere in the middle, so I had/have to listen at least twice. But in all cases your lyrics are very good: "find a girl who can read the Bible between the lines, yeah I should" A very good line!!!

D. Snyder...

Diggin' the BAND during the verses.

The write, the vocal and the Band sound all are reminiscent of Dylan when he transitioned to electric. That works.

And, still....a very original Snyder creation.

(there is an odd drop in volume at 2:42 for a couple of seconds).

Keep 'em coming...

Cool tune, arrangement, and production... great idea for a song... love the lyrics, but the vocal could really use some tuning up...

Thanks Ray. Yeah I whipped this together quickly after a jam and didn't think to analyze pitchiness as I normally do--cause it was just a rock session.

But I went back and did that from the Bloc-head comment, and it does looks like I am all over the place, and doing something odd for me--I am sharp a lot, not flat.

Oh well. I will fix it. At least I have a song though.

smile

* In the tag to the chorus I am playing a major 6th in the key of G and I think that is throwing me off when I reboot the verse. My ear may think it is in the key of E.

Anyway, easy fix. Oh that bruises that come when you just want to rock roll.

I had that same issue i a recent piece, the hook is transposed for the 2nd n third repeats in the chorus and I can nail those but the 1st, original, I keep singing the latter part. I had to "tune" it correct and even then it doesn't sound right any more, in fact it sounds more right when it's wrong. THAT is rock n roll.
I agree with FJ re the Dylan thing - that was my initial thought when I heard the song but that chiming guitar grabbed my attention.

David,

Cool song!
It sounded to me Bob Dylan singing contemporary country.
And it is definitely David Snyder.
Enjoyed my listen a lot.

Best regards.

Thanks Mario! I appreciate that.

I definitely found a few tweaks but I had fun doing this, so I guess that is the important thing!!

Hi David,

You're an amazing creator and equally amazing entertainer.

As with all you do, creativity abounds. You're an ideas man who never seems to be at a loss for finding something new and different.

Impressive stuff.

Fun Jam, David. I love playing with those guys and Brent is definitely a favorite. Never had a song this good come out of those jams though. Good write. For you it all seems so effortless. Well done.

Hey David! I have to say I have to be in the right mood to listen to your songs. And by that, I mean, ANY mood. I know I'm going to like it before I ever hear it. Strangely, I never know how or where it's going to go!

I will say this, and it may get me blocked by you or kicked off the forum entirely...if you slow this song down a little, to me it could be a Jason Aldean song. I don't mean you copied one of his, I'm saying I think you just ghost wrote a song for him. Just sayin'...

Great job once again.

Thanks Hans. Yeah, I fixed those vocals and stuff, but man, sometimes when you are coming off a hot jam and you just want to write, you just got to allow yourself to rock and roll.

Otherwise, you are dead before your time.

I like the raw energy of this, sort of a garage band vibe happening.

Great writing, lots of good lines. I especially like:

"go to church, find a girl
who can read the Bible
between the lines"

Nice!

Hi, David !

How cool to hear your latest !
I think it is one of your absolute
best tunes if not even the best !
I liked it very much !
About Whiskey, I must say I prefer Spanish
Brandy to a dram of Scotch !
(DonĀ“t hang me !!)

Great set of lyrics. You captured the character of this place.

Good band. Love that guitar.

This is a really good tune and the lyrics are really imaginative.

Thanks Floyd. I re-did it recently, this was just the write, off the top of my head,

I may post version two sometime. I like the way it turned out.
