Doctor Of LoveHi Folks,
Here's a Blues I wrote some time ago and re-recorded with Band In A Box Real Tracks. It features the Blues Harp of TJ Klay and the immaculate Guitar of Jack Pearson.
Music & Lyrics - Nigel Spiers
Vocals - Nigel Spiers
Drums - Shannon Forrest - BluesRockShuffle^2
Bass - Craig Young- 1583
Guitar - Jack Pearson - 421
Blues Harp - TJ Klay - 424
Good stuff, Nigel, you have the perfect voice for blues I think.
Good "blues" write, and the band is right on the money. I like what you did after the harp solo, slick.
Nicely done, enjoyed!
Nigel, this is a very cool song, and a great delivery...
Well done Sir...
Hi, Nigel.
As usual, this is pro all the way: the vocals, the lyrics, the arrangement and the band.
It's all there.
You've got that commercial sound down pat - sounds like it's right off an album.
And also - fun song, and I always enjoy listening to blues!
A cool live feel Nigel,
You've really treated the drums well...those cymbal hits hang nicely with the reverb/delay.
Excellent curation/arrangement top with a cooool voice.
Hi Dave,
Thanks for all your kind thoughts.
Best Regards
Nigel
Really good sounding piece Nigel!
As far as Blues goes, that just about tops the lot.
Classic blues, fantastic choice of band members and Blues Harp slots in just so perfectly.
Man, you sing this stuff so well, Nigel, like you were born to do it. Same with the writing. Excellent choice of instruments too. This song can surely cure whatever ails ya. A fun listen.
Bluesy what is bluesy, Nigel! Great job!! Excellent use of the blues harp solo. Did you pick and choose the sections in a DAW or directly through BIAB?
Would you be willing to post the lyrics on your SoundCloud link? I'm a visual person I guess.
Nigel...you are the king of swing and blues...great track...so well constructed...love the harp and the groove...your voice was meant for this genre...no doubt!
Hi,
Thanks for your comments.

Loved this. What a cool toetapper. Excellent vocal and call back from the harp. Band was excellent. Well done.
Steady and tight-sounding production Nigel. Well done!
Rob
Hi Bloc-Head,
Thanks for your comments.

Hi Nigel,
I saw you replied to my song (haven't read is yet) while at the same time I entered your song.
Still listening to it. so I stop typing further...
First impression; a lovely blues, surely a 'toetapper' as Scott said in his post.
Second impression is same as first one, only adding that I also enjoyed the lyrics. And the drums, and the percussion and the band itself and -of course- your splendid vocals. They are made for this music.
So altogether it's an A+++ (triple A).
You only have to tell me how you achieve to make the drums sounds so bright...
Have a very nice day,
Hans
PS: will read your reply in some seconds

OH yeah! Sounding mighty good!
Everything is right with this: vocal, energy, composition, and mix.
Nigel
Great use of the harmonica and a really good overall sound.
Excellent song and performance.
Peter
Nigel,
Yeah, this one is pretty cool. Love that drum—the snare really resonates; drives the tune forward. Terrific vocal as well. Easy to imagine sitting in a smoky blues bar listening to this played live. The place would be jumping! Great work!
All my best to you,
Deej
Hi Marty,
Thanks for your positive thoughts as always.

Nigel
Hi Dewey,
Thanks for your comments - as with all my songs I render around 7 takes of each of the solo instruments and then cut in paste in my Daw (Reaper). Obviously very time consuming but worthwhile.
Best Regards
Nigel
Hi Firesong,
Thanks for your very generous comments - yes I'm a lifelong fan of the Blues in all formats.

A fun listen, fun lyrics and great execution of vocals. A good showcase of using Band in a Box backing tracks.
Hi, Nigel !
What a super tune this is !
Really made my feet tap !
I liked everything about it !
I´m always weak for
Blues shuffle especially when done
superbly !
Cheers
Dani
Nigel, this is professional all the way
Super groove, had my foot tapping from the git-go
Outstanding vocal and lyrics
Excellent use of the blues harp.
Loved it
PS - I would not post the Realtrack musician's names as those without BiaB would think that those musicians actually in the room recording with you.
Hi Scott,
Thanks for your kind thoughts.

Nigel

Hi Hans,
Thanks for all your very generous comments.
Drums - I think the Real Drums (BluesRockShuffle^2) are already quite bright and upfront. I mixed the drums quite loud and gave them a short medium sized room reverb (not a long large room or hall reverb) with a saturation of 14%. I then had to roll off a little of the highs because the drums were jumping out of the mix.
Mix - I try and make all the instruments and vocals sound like they are recorded in the same room at the same time.
Best Regards
Nigel
Hi Mario, Dani, Brymusic, Ezekiel, Peter & Deej,

Nigel,
This track is smokin'! Pro quality mix not to mention exceptionally good harp and guitar! Your vocals are the icing on the cake! Everything sounds like it's sitting where it should be! Thanks, Torrey
Hi Nigel, great live small group jam session feel to it. Remarkable vocals, very well suited for the style.
