I really like that PG music has a "User Showcase." What a great idea!

I am just curious, for those of you that have been around a while, could you point me to a few songs you feel are the best produced using BIAB? I prefer songs with Vocals as well. Don't get me wrong, I do love instrumentals, but am looking for songs with vocals at this point.

Thanks for any help!

HTL,

I think you're asking the wrong question as it's more a matter of proficency, technique and creative ability. Those that are at "the top of their game" consistently produce excellent recordings. Those that are starting to build their skills can not be consistent in their efforts.

At the same time you have a mixture of people that focus on different areas of creating a song. For some it's the melody, others the lyrics, still others the arrangement. Some strive to make their production "radio ready" while others seek something unique. Oh, and let's not forget those that concentrate on using midi to create their production.

Another consideration, what if someone does great songs but you don't listen to it? Somebody may have listed a good heavy metal tune (yes you can make one with BiaB) and I can assure you I'll never hear it.

I'm not stating this to belittle your question, just trying to demonstrate how difficult and subjective any answers might be.

Thanks for the response Jim.

All of what you said is correct, and I understood that going into the question. It's why I'm asking for people's opinions on what they feel are the best.

Because different people have different areas of focus, I was hoping to get varied answers smile

It doesn't have to be a complete list of every song someone feels this way about. I am just looking for a few from anyone willing.

Giving a list is always a dangerous thing. Folks omitted are upset, others don't agree with the list....but not being one to shy away from controversy.......here goes.

Many of the users here, for one reason or another, are not doing much beyond composing the song and exporting straight from BB/RB. I take it that from the way you phrased your question, you are looking for the folks who DO go beyond that point to one degree or another, those who actively work to sweeten the song or do editing after the fact.

Since you're looking for production values and quality, I'll go out on the proverbial limb and say listen to the music produced by the following folks on this list as a starting point. I'm sure you'll find among them, some really good examples of songs that are either 100% BB/RB or hybrid match-ups using BB/RB and live tracking. The quality of the sweetening is above the level of a straight up BB/RB project in most cases and production chops such as selective editing and use of envelopes is evident in the songs. Custom edits and endings as well as slow down to the ending is also in some of the music. Key changes are also an important thing to consider in this discussion.

If I were to point you to just one of my songs as an example, it would be this one. Dust on the floor..... slowed down ending, key change, envelopes for instruments and more. Also listen to some of the other songs on my site. Start at the top and work down. Link to my site is at the bottom of the post.

Also listen to the music from these folks. Many times, due to being busy, I will skip listening to new songs. The folks on this list, I make a point to listen.... I don't always comment, but I do try to listen to see what new and creative things they are doing so I can steal..... uhhh, I mean...uhhhh, incorporate into my productions. Yeah, that's it.... !!

Floyd
90dB
R&Am
Tommyad
Janet & Bud
JosieC

Those are just several folks who are doing consistent quality work, for starters, and by no means a complete list. The folks listed are consistently producing high quality music.

Hope that's what you're looking for.

Thanks Herb! That is EXACTLY what I am looking for. I have some time over the next few days to do a little bit of "listen and learn." I am VERY excited to have some direction.

Right on my friend! Thanks!

Besides all of the mostly instrumental top production posters such as alek Rand, MarioD, Sergio, etc That Caaron did not want to focus on presently: Here are a few more that would make my list and I feel may be overlooked, likely because some have not posted recently but their quality is always consistently good. More could be named but it will take Caaron quite a while to work his way through this partial and Herb's partial list.

fgritner
Steve Young
Rob4580
MichaelLawlld
ROG
Rsdean
Greg Johnson
JoeSarahh
Horst Hartung
Sundance

There are many more and looking at the 2014 showcase awards will yield you many more hours of enjoyable listening of quality produced songs, as will just sampling the User Forum.

Actually I didn't forget them..... they're supposedly out of business if you can believe what the govt tells us.

Of course there is always the terrorist watch list and the TSA..... you're probably near the top on that one.

Some that come to mind:

"Sausalito" by Greg Johnson

"Given up for lent" (Floyd Jane)

"Guilty" by Guenter

"Dust on the floor" - GuitarHacker

Apologies to all the others - haven't intentionally left any one out - just too many to list...

Thanks for the examples.

This was never about who didn't make the list...heck, my 1 song that was 3/4ths done didn't get listed (obviously! ha!).

I get there are a lot of people and examples to pull from. I just wanted to know a few of what other members thought "whoa! Now THAT is really cool!"

I like to get other perspectives and there is MUCH respect here from me for all of you!

Thanks again!
