Sad Marty - beautiful melancholy song, although it's hard for me NOT to see you smiling when you sing "up for the top" The key change works very well, great idea and perfectly implemented! Great stuff ![[Linked Image - Only viewable when logged in]](https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/images/icons/default/thumbs_up.gif) Thanks, Brain. Marty Happy. Song Sad. And as Tarzan said in the early ones, "What drums say?" You're right, if I had seen the wonky images Leonard.ai would create for that part, I probably wouldn't have gotten through it. The key change was an attempt raise three fingers out of the water and hope for a rescue. Cool,cool,cool..this song is really cool…(singing to melody)
Liked everything about it…lyric might be on the “worry” side of the issue, but the melody and chord chart were nice and optimistic.
Your vocal was very nice!!
Overall, a winning track! Thanks, Tom. Didn't mean to worry ya. Sure Barb & I had some down times, but 47 years has had so many up moments that they fade into insignificance. This is a well-written and well-executed song. Nice work Marty. Laurent Thank you, Laurent. Hi Marty,
I love the marimba and the emotion in your voice. It gave me a reminder of some of the Psychedelic Furs numbers in the 80's...I think they used a xylophone. Anyhoo, it's a sad, sucking feeling we all know at one time or another...and you captured it well. Thanks, Beth. You're right, that sad, sucking feeling brought be down in the past, and I'm sure it's likely to again --albeit for different reasons. Gorgeous song, Marty. I kept thinking that I've heard it before, then I realised I had on YouTube. As said there, "beautifully arranged". Hehe. Thanks, Chay. Thanks for your support too.

I liked that. It has an easy country rock groove that rests easy on the ears.
I didn't realize you were multi-instrumental ..... nice to know.

GREAT call about the marimba...attention to detail all across really. The Parker solo is spot on too. I like the way your voice shows signs of a deep downward spiral in the last few lines. ACE

Marty, this song is a downer so you've met you're goal. Great prosidy and production support the lyrics and vox. Well done.
Dewey HA, thanks, Dewey. Mission accomplished. Hi, Marty. Catchy chorus, jangly guitars, good vocals, spiff modulation. Excellent! Thanks, David. I love that you write Real A lovely production Killer bass sound Nice keyboards and guitar
A terrific listen
.fj Thanks, Floyd. The lyric is sad and yet hopeful too - no surprise from Marty. The melody and the entire band add to that hopeful aspect. We like the modulation. Wow. Marty the multi instrumentalist struts his stuff. And good stuff it is indeed, including your very soulful vocal! We particularly liked the marimba in the bridge and your guitar picking - even sans pick. Enjoyed it and the supporting vid! J&B Thanks, Janice & Bud. Great Sound and Great song. The instrumentation was so clean. I loved the Modulation too. Thanks, Ronnie.

I didn't realize you were multi-instrumental ..... nice to know. Thanks, Herb. I used to be more of a multi instrumentalist in the 70s. Since I loved playing bass and liked playing things like flute and harmonica, now I'm just a bass player who remembers a few things on other instruments. GREAT call about the marimba...attention to detail all across really. The Parker solo is spot on too. I like the way your voice shows signs of a deep downward spiral in the last few lines. ACE Thanks a lot, Ray. Yeah, he knew they were going so low, but didn't want to go solo.

I love the 60s folk feel. Happy sappy...do what you do best. This is one of my favorites...a singable melody that is pleasant to listen to.

Lovely song, Marty! One of your best vocals I think. And that melodic guitar solo fits the song perfectly, nicely done!

Certainly your solo would've made the song bettter, but... it's like picking my battles.

Hi Marty.
I love this band you've put together and the way you've arranged and produced it. The presentation is first class with the sound excellence everywhere. Congrats on the songwriting, too. The lyrics and the melody are a perfect fit for the content. This is exactly the sort of music that inspires me.
Thank you for sharing it. --Noel
