Melodist button is a way to get BB to generate a "song" for you. Most times it is not (at least to me) usable in a real world situation.

I like to play with it every now and then. I will go through dozens of melodist creations before one seems to work...with some level of manual editing.

It should create a song.

Double click it and it should open a window "Generate chords and or melody" .... in it, you should have a number of options.

click GENRE at the top left and select a basic style to start with.

Look at the CHECK BOXES and determine if they are set by default to your liking or if you want to change them.

I mostly do not change those settings. It can be fun to play with them one you know what they do.

Click OK and you should see it generate a song based on the settings in the window.

At this point the song will play with the settings BB chose. You can now change the style to any that you prefer from the thousands in BB

Here are a few songs I created that all started with the Melodist.

Emerald Eyes: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9414184

Walking in Spring time: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=9012413

A Memory of You : http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8583828

Somewhere South: http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=8043230

Of course none of them sounded like that when they were generated by Melodist..... I had to work with them to one degree or another to get them to this point.
