Hrm... I haven't noticed a problem with the /S/. It's not a vocalized sound, so it's produced differently than most phonemes. It's more like an /F/, or the plosives /K/, /P/ and /T/. With formant synthesis, it's filtered gaussian noise. Where most phonemes are run through a sequence of filters (simulating the throat and mouth), those sounds are run through parallel filters instead.

With the Daisy voice, you might try using the Daisy Bunny preset instead of Daisy Default - the articulation of the consonants is more clear.
