Thanks Noel for your pleasant words smile No need to be envious, you have already done amazing things with Synth V in a very short time smile Janne

Another better and clever play with the words in a melancholy song. I enjoyed the mood and how the band supports it, the accordion and the pedal steel have the right mournful tone, I like to hear TexMex - sadly bit underused on this forum. The chord changes between minor and major are pleasant. Starting in minor and ending in major with the line "So maybe we'll be better friends.", that's Marty's positive trademark signature smile. Janice at the Top Of Her Game. But then, when isn't she? Killer harmonies (of course). A good piano-based production. Peter's fills/leads - nice!. Sweet sounding Bass. The sitar is a wonderful surprise - fits perfectly... The standard Perfect Mix. A delightful song. Definitely goes on the favorites list. Love the Chorus. And that smooooth melody... One of your best! fj

Welcome Izzy. I think it's a cool hip-hop song with some really interesting elements. Lots of good lyrics (I would probably make 3 songs from these lyrics alone) and even if you don't have a typical hip-hop voice, it sounds authentic. A pretty good start to the forum, I think smile[Linked Image]

Another great song to the Greatest Generation!! Well done. So glad we didn't have to land on Normandy today. People would just start crying and have a protest riot, and then break out into tears again when they couldn't log into Facebook. Meanwhile, we would all be living on a potato farm.

Not sure about Ms. Swift, she seems to be doing all right. Very few musicians make the 'big time', but then very few of any business make 'the big time'. I was a Cable TV Field Engineer for a few years, and it paid much better than music. But I wasn't as happy as I am being a musician. By analyzing what the market in my area desires, and fulfilling that need, I have never been rich, but I've never been poor either. My house, in a nice section of town, is paid off. I did that in 10 years. I don't have luxury items, but I also have zero debt. My small, music business, pays the bills. Life is way too short, and at an early age, I decided to get the most joy and happiness I can, and the least amount of stress and irritation. Other than 2 different day-jobs while testing what it is to be normal, I have, and continue to make my living doing what I would do for free — making music. I'm having a very happy life, so I call that a success story, even though I never made 'the big time'. Each of us has our own tastes and desires, so my life might choices might not fit anyone else.

Good for you. I've played with some incredible musicians that were entertaining, but worked one gig per week. Perhaps because I'm in a small market area, nobody is hiring originality. Analyze your local market, see where the demands are, then supply it. In my area, the gigs that offer steady work are hiphop, country, or pop/rock — all cover song gigs. There is a one day per week jazz venue, and a few that cater to Caribbean or Latin American music. But the gigs are not steady, and there are many more musicians trying for those gigs than there is a demand for them. I play pop/rock, probably 80% covers, done our way, sometimes close, sometimes not. We also mix in country, Caribbean, Latin American, blues, jazz, and a few other genres. Variety seems to work for us, and with over 650 songs, we can adapt our music to the audience of the day (or night). There is more than one way to make money doing music, what works for one person might not work for another and what works for one area might not work for another. What is the supply and demand where you want to gig? Notes ♫

Thank you very much, Vic. As I mentioned above, Natalie sings in her lowest alto range, which is pretty deep for a woman. I guess young men can sound similar down there.

You will need the latest version from 6.57 It now plays fine on a 1.9GHz Celeron Win7 laptop with a 5400rpm HD. Thanks to the incredibly helpful guys at Reaper this shows what I have been saying about Biab/BBPlugin/RealBand playing source files direct that seemed to fall on deaf ears around here. All this would allow Biab to be used as a Live Arranger that will be a game changer, the Reaper guys saw this, I just hope the Biab guys will also now see. VIDEO: Biab-Live-Arranger-WMA.mp4
Users must not read posts that I have been posting for years n years with actual examples. I have no idea why they don't just try these things out for themselves, rather than waiting for PG's confirmation and approval of the possibility. JJazzLab works as a Live Arranger using keyboard midi styles the same thing Biab could have done back in 2008. Users need to look more into these things, experiment themselves, be more supportive and encouraging, anyone can download and try n try n try Reaper for FREE to see how it instantly plays wma from/to any point in any wma file with seamless transitions. Reaper doesn't require anyone to be a brain surgeon to use it, but how many have tried it to give ideas how Biab could work ?????????

Where are all these Linux users now that wanted a Linux version of Biab ? There used to be so many posts back then compared to how it is now, pretty dead frown Maybe if there was a Linux version there would be more sales, more users ? At least get it to work under Wine or better still get the Biab JUCE plugin/plugin standalone working as an all in one self-contained crossplatform Win Lin Mac.

BB has more than a few ideas all it's own. It calls things in what could be considered by some to be non standard terms. Questions have to be ask for some one new to figure it out. BB will never be construed as intuitive, but when in Rome... At some point I guess everyone just understands "it is what it is". Confusing yes, perplexing yes, bewildering perhaps. It is a very useful piece of software that takes a bit of time to understand and even longer to find the many many ways it can be used. We should have been prepaired for this, we were told... RB ICON ARRANGEMENT. justanoldmuso Yesterday at 12:12 AM Forum: RealBand Wishlist Jump to new postsJump to new posts
i keep on forgeting to post this wish..but working in rb today it came up again........... i like to use ctrl T to work in the rb tracks view that isnt clluttered with lots of icons...But it would be nice to decide which rb icons and thus features i want in the less cluttered ctrl T view. ie so i can custom set up the icons i want in the less cluttered view. so im not switching ctrl T views often. for example there are icons in the many icons view i would only rarely use. maybe a special button on less cluttered view called icons and when clicked a list of icons pops up so a user can decided his/her icons used ?? dont get me wrong...i was reminded today of the many many features of RB which of course means lots of user feature choices and thus icons. i just would like to dismiss the icons i rarely use. in summary the user decides on icon rows needed and hides others. so the maximum amount of real estate is occupied by tracks. let me say ..so im not taken in the wrong way...today i tried another daw to see if it had any features i might find usefull....and realised very quickly just the opposite...i would lose various features that rb has....i would just like to see this minor wish implemented so im not flitting tween the two ctrl T track views. just an idea....cos i do the my work mostly in tracks view. happiness. om 🇨🇦 🇬🇧

It is easy to become fearful and irritated by new ways of doing things. I think the older we get the more change becomes uncomfortable. There is good reason to fear some techonology, atomic weapons come to mind. AI has some issues. Can AI kill off all the humans? Perhaps. Is that a big deal or any great loss? Likely not. We are most likely much less important than we would like to believe. We will be able to play and create music fora long time into the future. We will also find it harder to monatize and collect on those efforts as time goes by. AI will play and create music and at some point will be most likely be indistinguishable from human made music. Many of us have concerns about ethical issues but I fear we are in the minority. Good, bad, right, wrong and ethical issues tend to disapear as distance from shore increases...lol Riders On The Storm [Linked Image from i.imgur.com] Cheers Billy

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
