Re: Why We Ride by Spirit Level aka Robert C and Scott C Janice & Bud 04/07/24 01:40 PM Forum: User Showcase Jump to new postsJump to new posts
We didn’t know that we shared the love of cycling with Robert, and you and he have captured the feeling of pure joy that we encounter while riding. Video, lyric, performances and mix are all in the “wheelhouse” for this spin! 😊 Enjoyed it! J&B PS As Gary Klein said, “Biking is about rhythm and flow. It's the wind in you face and the challenge of hammering up along hill. It's the reward at the top and the thrill of a high-speed descent. Biking lets you come alive in both body and spirit. After awhile the bike disappears beneath you and you feel as if you're suspended in midair.”

I started using Replay.io .It does a pretty good job. Keep your music arrangement kind of simple and sing without any reverb, delay or even pitch correction. Then load into replay and choose a voice to render out. It's 100% free. You could also look into an Digitech Vocalist 4 or 5. They have decent feminine vocals. I used to have one but traded it off long ago. Search on Reverb or GuitarCenter for a used one. Only get the 4 or 5 cuz I can't vouch so much for their other models being as good.

Who's Joy? Whose Joy? Another Popfinger pleasure for sure. Great use of the microchords option, and wow it's hard to imagine this only has three chords. No 1-4-5 here. I really dig the driving beat. Really enjoying the lyrics, and you fashion those synth voices so well. Excellent harmony. Excellent write, Janne. Have one for me.

It’s cool to hear the three part harmony that is one of your hallmarks and we know that must be satisfying to you to be able to continue with that. We do agree with B.D. on the need for more “humanizing” of the lead vocal. As this is just your second project with the synth vocals, we have not doubt that you’ll have them singing like you in no time. 😊 Excellent mix! Kudos! J&B

Oh, I've been looking for a new Bob Dean the song-writing machine's new one. Yep, this one is like discovering a gold mine without the burden of the gold. Man, I like how everything appropriately supports the lyrics and vocal, which are the brightest part of the gold. Interesting choice of backing band, and they all work so well.

HA. A nightcap is supposed to put us to sleep, but this one wakes me up with some fresh ideas and an impassioned desire to play. So I'm listiening in the morning. Inspriational morning coffee. So well-crafted, Chay. Everything sits so well in the mix, and you fashioned the solos so well. My eyes were closed as I drifted off, so I probably missed most of the video. Maybe I'll try that tonight to see if that puts me to sleep. From past experiences with your stuff, it's not likely. Wow, that was 7 and a half minutes. Breezed right through...

Chay, love what you've done with the arrangement and your theme to make this an ear catching "long" piece. Don't think it took too long for the piano to kick things off at all. The guitar solo pyrotechnics work surprisingly well (to me) despite not being as laid back as the rest of the track. So...like this a lot!

Chris, lovely tune! Your backing track is very open and airy, and makes a nice space for the duet. I like your choices for the vocalists, and they do sound very nice together. Some of the lines sound a little stiff and robotic, but I think David has provided input on why that is. But that doesn't detract from...this is a really nice song!

Ezekiel, timely write, powerful performance! Your big vocals sounds great, and the harmonic progression has a cool edge of foreboding and discomfort. Just a great job all the way around. Spent a lot of time in the DC area interfacing with the political elements, so I'm tempted to say "it is what it is". But that would be wrong: It's something I've never seen before...

Anything with a melody is potentially a copyright infringement, so that may explain some disappearing. bhs.minor9.com seems to be back. midkar.com has quite a few. Our own "Notes" Norton http://www.nortonmusic.com/ does excellent fake book tracks, no melody or lyrics. There are notes under Support about copyright.

You have to be in the zone for this one. Plus don't listen on too low a volume. From the YouTube blurb: Like "Aurora V1: Night Turns Into Gold", my last post, this instrumental was composed in April 2023, but not finally edited until June or later, and like the latter track I didn't upload it earlier as I was hoping for a different kind of video for it, an idea now abandoned. Though a lot simpler in construct than "Quan Yin", this instrumental is just my favourite to date as when I listen to it at the end of a 1 hour playlist I'm totally in the zone for the flow of it. At 7:30 in length it won't be everyone's nightcap and I expect that on one music forum I'll be told it takes too long to get started [!], but for me the relaxing flow of the rhythm section starts at the start and it slowly builds as piano joins in and then later long tenor sax and finally electric guitar solos complete it. Drums: Country Rock Guitar Solo, Pop Ba ~ Brian Fullen Bass: ditto ~Tobin Frank Organ: ditto ~ Gene Rabbai Rhythm Guitar: ditto ~ Darin Favorite Piano: Solo Acoustic Piano Ballad ~ John Jarvis Tenor Sax Solo: Slow Country Pop w/ Tenor Solo ~ Mark Douthit Guitar Solo: Modern Groove Soloist, Brit Rock ~ Dave Clevland 192 bars; 4/4; G; tempo 105; time 7:30

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
