Bob, a perfect example of how less is more can make a song. Super vocal, however some of the harmony FX I thought made it hard to hear the lyrics, but that is just my opinion and it didn't detract to much from this song. Great mix. Great work.

It might help if you gave more detail. What is SO6.6? What kind of keyboard sound are you looking for? If it's a simple part, maybe you could enter it in step mode (seq) and use a softsynth for the sound you need? I don't mind contributing, but the description is pretty vague.

Matt, that is exactly what I was trying to remember. Thanks. A senior moment on my part I called it Additional song settings as that is its label in the second approach I gave above. Appears there exist at least 3 methods to get that Menu selection in the Mac Version. The two I posted and the one I forgot that Matt Reminded me of.

As mentioned above, I'm also not familiar with 'Additional Song Settings' for the Windows version. I normally use <Ctrl>N which opens up the Song Settings dialog. The Edit menu offers these options: [Linked Image] I wonder if this is worth mentioning in the BIAB for Mac section?

I'm not sure of the word "Additional" here because it does not appear in that menu on my 2024 version for Windows. I bring up the Song Settings dialog box by one click on the Settings wheel icon to the right of the number of choruses and repeats. Or, the hot key to get there is Ctrl+N. Is that it?

Can I Get a Keyboard Volunteer? King Conga 04/09/24 08:53 PM Forum: Recording, Mixing, Performance and Production Jump to new postsJump to new posts
I need a volunteer to play about 6-7, maybe 8 bars of 6/4 pretty slow (85 BPM). It's a simple part. I'd play it myself, but it's just beyond my capability. It's in SO6.6. I'd REALLY appreciate. I can't pay anything right now. Let me know if you're interested. If you've got a drum part that needs help, maybe we can barter? Thanks, KC

Additional Song Settings mrgeeze 04/09/24 06:11 PM Forum: Beginners Forum Jump to new postsJump to new posts
To me accessing the additional song Settings menu seems more cumbersone than previously. I use this sub menu a fair amount in my work. It seems buried deeper (or more keystrokes) than previously. Maybe my memory is failing. At present I know of 2 ways to get there. Command KEy +K then hit the more button or Edit (drop Down) .......Song Form (drop Down) ..............Additional Song Settings. Just wondering

Yo Marty...no modulations here...it's baby steps for Hayden, Natalie and me so far...but stay tuned there's a modulation on the horizon I can sense it! thanks...Dan

Dewey...thanks...oddly enough when the voices go to their lower registers they tend to go flat (just like real people...I love it!!)...I can hear it too ...not sure what I'll do about that...probably make them sing in higher keys? who knows?...thanks again...Dan

Hey Floyd...thanks for your comments...the 2:49 comment (which I appreciate) is about making the guys sound more human and even though the note is very low and no singer would choose it I suppose...I can sing that note and I thought it fits the melody...so? maybe it's just me...anyway this song is one that to use your term is a "throw away" song for me...though to be honest I may use the melody again with new lyrics to fit my musical mission statement better...thanks again...Dan

Check the sample rate settings of the two programs. Band-in-a-Box likes 44.1KHz while (I think) Cakewalk likes 48KHz.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
