I did an experiment with this new great BiB 2024 v.1109. 1. Made a short 8 bar chord sequence, just 8 bars, no repeats. 2. Style ZZJAZZ, tempo 140. 3. For bass I chose Hi-Q Upright Acoustic Bass 'N'. No Midi patch. 4. When I came back to Mixer I noticed that BiB had changed the Track name 'Bass* to 'Piano 1'. And Piano track was changed to 'Piano 2' (of course). 5. I played my 8 bars and saved the result. 6. Exported the Song as Audio File. 24bit/44.1. Sounded OK. 7. Next I exported the Song as Audio File 24bit/48Khz. Didn't sound ok anymore. The tempo was faster and the pitch higher. 8. 24bit/96 was still faster like playing the 24/48 at double speed, high pitched. Funny but not in the right way, I think. Could someone please explain why this happened? And yes, the program seems to crash easily and too often. I have had none of such difficulties with BiB 2023 v.1013. My setup is I think quite normal: Windows 10 64bit Home with latest updates. Lenovo Legion Y730-17ich. Intel i5-8300H, 2.30GHz, 16 GB memory. RME Babyface interface/ASIO. N.I., IK and Steiberg, Finale and Reaper. I have used (on/off) BiB from the year 1, I think, from Atari and Windows 3 era, or so. BiB v.1013 has been stable no problems so I continue using it.

I'm not personally wanting a new interface. I have several different Focusrite boxes, plus the SoundCraft Ui24R mixer, so I'm more than covered. I've watched a few of Julian Krause's videos, though not for a while. He does have reviews of gen4 Focusrites, but apparently not of the H224, which is a shame. He does have his "How to choose" video, of course: here

Well, I recommended a Focusrite unit because many people here will be able to use firsthand experience to help the OP with his next questions. I stopped watching the video; he didn’t appear to have a solid grasp of the Focusrite he was using. If he went on to show that the Sterling has some specs that are better, that’s fine, but I seriously doubt that most of us could hear any difference.

Gordon for detailed info go to sterlings site. i think the mute is prolly mute main monitors while recording ? looking at the big pic i feel if the only option years back was the h224 it would have sold like knickerbocker glorys on brighton pier...lol. the one thing that the frites dont have is re useing 2 monitors. only one i believe. i might get a h224 for my back up rig for s's and giggles. the trouble is this tech is moving very fast. a guy you would like with your deep tech background is julian krause on you tube...he uses test and measurement fancy gear to test interfaces. no bs from him. straight shooter and shows all the technical graphs etc happiness. om

I've long wondered at the apparent absence of a simple "Al Coda" option, which would handle many things. Often I just want to say "if this is the final chorus, exit the loop here and play the coda to end. I know that people sometimes use DC al Coda or DC al Fine to say "play the first A again" in an AABA form, even where the AABA will be repeated multiple times. To me that just seems wrong, but it appears not unusual.

The theme is still relevant today and men without memory rush into the same abyss as their ancestors. The song is beautiful and with the voice of Winston Churchill it is very moving. A great man! Laurent

David Bennett dissects this song from Willow Smith. Unusual time signature and rhythmic patterns throughout, blended with jazz chords. David states: "Willow Smith's new song "symptom of life" is in 7/4 time and uses some very jazzy chords."

+1 some things can take years and years One gets the distinct impression that some get forgotten about. I've had the impression that each year's planned enhancements get scheduled and may or may not be delivered depending upon how well the work progresses, and then after release the wishes and fixes are somehow restarted and some stuff just "drops off". Of course some wishes may never have been put into the plans at all ... not within the philosophy; too hard at present; breaks compatibility; and so on. I do personally still think that the "X new features each year" business model distorts the focus on these things. (Note: my use of X here does not mean that PGM has been bought by Elon Musk :D)

I've seen Buddy Guy many times. He is happy. ...Deb Yes he is! I’m not oblivious to the humor but gotta jump to the defense of our genre. 🤪 Simply stated and IMHO when it comes to blues folks either get it or they don’t. I “got it” in the 50’s as a kid listening to all night radio and never looked back. And many music genres today would not exist had it not been for the blues. End of rant. 😀 Bud

A few words on this also from a developer's perspective. I'm pretty sure that when PGM started using Delphi it was sold and seen as an upgrade to whatever language they used before ... I guess Borland C or Borland Pascal as Delphi was then produced and sold by Borland as an upgrade to a fourth-generation language. From Embrocadero's website: "Delphi® is the world's most advanced integrated IDE for rapidly developing native high-performance multi-platform applications using powerful visual design tools and features developers love.". It claims to support all major platforms including Windows, MacOS, Linux, Android and iOS. It's a "RAD" (Rapid Applications Development" environment, with the implicit aims of getting a working product to market quicker on all of those platforms. I've never used Delphi, so I can't make specific observations, only observations about other RAD platforms I've used. On the platforms I've used, I've generally found that, yes, they get the product to market quicker from a standing start, but that they seem to become more and more difficult to manage over the lifetime of the product because one is permanently trying to make changes where some, maybe many, of the consequences of those changes are tucked away inside the environment. In addition to that, the RAD maker is making "improvements" to their product which have similar consequences. It can end up being a lot more work than one expected to maintain these things. On JUCE and many other OpenSource software, there are understandable concerns about if or how the OpenSource licencing may impact the products licencing. Companies worry that there is a risk their own copyright may be blown apart by using it. Generally that should(*) not apply to libraries et al, which are normally under the LGPL licence, but I understand the concern. People also worry about security, but most such software is well understood and you have access to the source-code, which is often not the case with commerial libraries. (*) "Should" is a dangerous word ... it actually means approximately nothing, e.g., there should be peace on earth; or "It should do that, but it doesn't". Here's a big gotcha: In principle a change from Delphi to C++ is not an upgrade, it's a downgrade. That doesn't necessarily mean that the change would be bad idea, but it certainly does raise some profound questions that only PGM can really answer. Here's an argument, though, why the "downgrade" might still be appropriate. The programming languages C was devised in the 70s and although it's had some polishing since, it's still fundamentaly the same language. C++ is a derivative of C that has further polish, but is still fundamentally C at heart. That means these languages have been very popular indeed for fifty years. The reasons for that are several, but compactness, efficiency, the ability to do most programming tasks with it/them and their universality are key, as is the huge number of people who can use them. C and C++ are a remarkably constant foundation of today's programming and are often still very much present "under the surface" of other programming systems.

Dave and Marty, the first thing that came to my mind was Bloomfield and Kooper. Loved that axe! Marty's bass is always in the pocket. Great vocal and mix. Blues at its absolute best. Hi Mario, Man, Mike Bloomfield is one of the best guitarists that ever lived! WAY ahead of his time, better than all his contemporaries (in my opinion of course) and his playing still sound fresh today. I've heard most, maybe all, of his stuff. And of course the Super Session albums he did with Al Kooper are classic! Unfortunately due to his childhood he suffered from very low self esteem which led to drug and alcohol abuse. Thanks for the support, very much appreciated! Hi, Dave. What to say? Blues, screaming lead guitar, excellent vocals, nice write, solid groove with the bass and drums. Excellent! Thanks, David!

Hi Brian, Good show on the album! I have a Spotify account and added you to the list of artists I follow. I haven't listened to your album yet, but I saved it and will listen later. If your friend is earning enough to buy a beer a day he is doing pretty good! I've found we do *way* better on YouTube than we do on Spotify as far as listens go, no idea why. Best of luck!

Ha! Spent a few summers on a working farm when I was a kid, which provided a somewhat more, uh, pragmatic understanding of the food chain. Love the vocal arrangement and harmonies on your version. The band arrangement and instruments nestle the vocals like a warm nest. Or sheet. Thanks for sharing! Yes, if you work at a farm you come from a different point of view. Thanks for your nice comment.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
