Re: Hello and a couple questions Noel96 04/22/24 12:30 AM Forum: Beginners Forum Jump to new postsJump to new posts
Matt, Scott mentioned using the "Guitar capo" visual transpose in his original post. I'm guessing that that's the option found under "Chord Display". When I set that option to having a capo on the second fret, I get what Scott posted. Unlike Scott's post, though, I also get the correct chord on the lead sheet. I suspect that the incorrect chord that Scott sees is a bug (as you've already mentioned) with the Mac version of the program. --Noel ★ my latest song: Till The End Of Time

The kind of strumming at the beginning is hard for me to find in BIAB RT. Is there any? Can you tell me which one it is? Thanks

Hi Bob. Thanks for taking the time to have a listen and to comment smile I'm relieved to read that everything works for you as I've spent the last couple of weeks tweaking things and trying different approaches. Honestly, the mixing was becoming a nightmare for me. In the end, I just took a deep breath and said to myself, "It's now or never!" and posted. All the very best. --Noel

Re: Missing RealTracks Picker in BBPlugin musocity 04/21/24 11:58 PM Forum: Band-in-a-Box VST and Pro Tools/AAX DAW Plugin (Windows) Jump to new postsJump to new posts
I know I had to take the same approach with Reaper calling on BBW using AutoHotkey scripts that I ran from a Lua script in Reaper to access Biab functions then I could write the data to clipboard to send to Biab and copy to send back to Reaper.
Code
reaper.ExecProcess([[cmd.exe /C " cd ]] .. [[C:\\Program Files\\AutoHotkey & AutoHotkey.exe]]..[[ "]]..script_path..[[ahk\scripts\play.ahk"]],0)
reaper.CF_SetClipboard( start_measures ..",".. number_measures )
text_tempo = reaper.CF_GetClipboard()

that was all a lot of messing around so I just put it all in one script to read the current frozen SGU and transfer instantly. Why have a hidden Biab running in the background when you can run the main Biab app and instantly transfer giving a lot more control ? [Linked Image] But eventually I can't see any other way than a self-contained crossplatform JUCE plugin that does it all, and works the same instantly in all DAWs. It just takes way too many years getting there, I'm gettin' old frown [Linked Image]

Well....howdy Daley Knightly. Very cool video and I dig the name. Well done....I enjoyed it.. Hey BT.... Those are some very kind comments and much appreciate you taking the time to chime in and comment favorably. smile....Know this weed hopper....I'm a secret junkie for the cool jams you refer to so I have to use discretion and restraint in that arena. I could easily find a way to add what you refer to. However, Ken puts up with my 16 bar lead sections and sneaky, simple bridge additions so I give him some slack on occasion. I'm glad it had a grab factor and it was worthy of the listen. Thanks again to everyone.

Good day all.... Well.... I've never written (2) songs back to back before so I'll throw this one against the wall too. A song about life and how we sometimes fail to grasp it and it's unknown adventures or opportunities. You know, the "without some risk there's no reward" thing. I'm an idiot! I forgot to post a direct link. I'm old. smile https://soundcloud.com/chulaivet1966/time-waiits-for-no-one-ken-lasaine-on-guitars My sincere thanks to Ken (klasaine) for his time and musicianship on this new one. I'm perfectly happy with your suggestion and method of doing things, but it doesn't cover the common jazz setup of intro, x-times through the chorus/body, outro, which is what the "choruses x N" covers. Jazz people really rather want that x N.

Hi George, A good old countrysong sung with a marvelous voice for that kind of songs. You have done great on it, love those vocals the most. But maybe because it's impossible for a Dutch person to imitate. Something about your song was intriguing: are you sure the bar isn't yours? It was the bar stool, the jukebox too, just like the friends... Good day, Hans

Hi Ray, Vicarn and Firesong, It was very nice reading your posts about the song. Thanks for that. The topic is sad, but the making of it, was a nice process. Not only the vocals from Anne-Marie and me, but also the choice of instruments and builds of the song. After we mixed our vocals, AM came with a suggestion to make another 'break' like the one after the first chorus. She likes one after the solo, but I did it after her marvellous bg-vocals in the middle, for the last part of the song. I was happy she also liked that more. But now about you:

Hi Ray, as I wrote, we added another break with the heavy guitar. If I had done more of that, the character of the song would be changed too much. In my opinion. And about the mixing of our vocals, or more AM, well... there was something why we didn't do that. But I was glad I asked her to remove all excisting BG's and do whatever she want on that. And that worked out perfectlly. I'm glad you agreed with that too. And I also agree with your last line. Though that doesn't mean you have to be happy with that.

Hi Vic, I understand you liker her voice more than mine, but as I wrote to Ray, we had our reasons to do what we did. Maybe in another song... And my vocals are what they are. And I still like them, although they are getting older as well!

I have to +1 for PowerTracks and MIDI editing and manipulation. I don't use it as my primary DAW but it is my primary MIDI editor, ever since Cakewalk went off the rails. When I need more than the 48 tracks (Medleys, Orchestrals), I'll use it in conjunction with Reaper---but for GM and pop tracks, Power Tracks is still my MIDI guy. If I need to non-critical bulk renderings to MP3 or WAV, I use Switch Sound File Converter. Paj 8^)

It's such a shame that we're in different countries and not local to each other as I'd love jam with you and compose new songs. But I'm also frustrated living where I am in a way too small retirement flat - it's even freaking haunted, which is a pain! - with only plasterboard walls separating me from an older lady neighbour, which makes doing anything live impossible. I recently bought a new Fender acoustic as I thought it would get me back into playing again, but I've not played it since it arrived as just tuning it up and discovering that I'm really out of practice I had my neighbour and her forever guests scrambling to the walls to listen, which being so audible is a real put-off as it's a distraction. The only song with my vocals on YT is this, which not being BiaB I won't post as a main post, even though others do, so as you can't read the YT blurb from here this is an edit of how it came about: Back in 1969, aged 18, I wrote some songs for the second local band I was in as a drummer, one of which was a simple two-chorder called "Still On My Mind" which was about losing my first true love. Many years later in 1988 when playing it solo on acoustic guitar I felt it was too negatively self-indulgent and so I decided to reverse the theme and make it about my leaving a lady and then growing from it. For example "Still On My Mind" began with the lyrics, "You know you gave up all our hopes / But do you realise what you've done to me?", which I changed in the new 1988 version, retitled "Will Or My Mind", to "I know I gave up all your hopes / I didn't realise what I did to you", then I made similar changes throughout, plus I added new and positive 'chorus' lyrics. … / … [This is] an impromptu recording … which unrehearsed I played to test a new microphone. [Right at the end you can hear the whine of my previous PC's fans]. [video:youtube-small]

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
