Scaling the BB window down on a big modern monitor goes a long way toward improving appearance. It gets nicer at a sane size.
However, window size will not stick, and it will not stay on a second monitor. Each time, BB still insists on re-opening as a gross full screen on monitor 1.
Has anyone found the key to making this feature work more as one would hope?

Are you talking the new BB2010 or another version and if so, which one? Not that any of the older versions have any real capability on this front...

From the new 2010 version out today.
Band-in-a-Box window is now sizable, when size changes, chord sheet, notation, and other windows redraw in proportion to the new size. This allows you to have BB open as a small window on screen with other programs, and you still see a full chord sheet. The screen size is remembered between sessions.

Hey, Macster.
I just installed the new 2010, and that's the one I'm talking about. (Older ones had no scaling whatsoever. You could crop them down in size, losing parts of the screen, but that was worthless.)
This 2010 one scales nicely, just as the write-up promised. But the scaling doesn't stick, and screen position is not remembered. I can't imagine that's they way they intended it. It's certainly not the way it ought to be.
Maybe I have failed to spot some magic switch that makes things stay adjusted, and that's why I ask.

There are always, always, updates. Bug fixes. Just email them, or wait. Often an update comes soon after a release. Hours and hours are spent on testing, but that's a big piece of software, and we all use it in different ways.

And there are always repeated reboots, too. They're a form of wizardry.
I restarted for the second time after installation, and now the thing stays right where it's wanted -- even on the secondary monitor! Mystery why it didn't take the first time, but it works as advertised now. This scaling is a major improvement, 10 years overdue but welcome at last.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first?
