I have a licenced copy of j-bridge and am using the latest "official" version (1.65) however even this is apparently not good enough for BIAB...I see they (BIAB green advice popup) say version 1.7b2 however this version does NOT appear on the j-bridge website (latest beta is 1.71b)...is this some sort of gouging to make people pay for some specific version of j-bridge?

j-bridge official version works with every other plugin I own and in every other application...just not when loading 64bit VSTs into BIAB.....

Can anyone explain this discrepancy?

Actually it is on the web site.

Over on the right hand side of J's website (https://jstuff.wordpress.com/jbridge), you'll see a panel called "Pages". Within pages is a selection for "jbridge beta update 1.71b". Click on that link.

At the next screen, you can enter your jbridge registered email and click the submit button. You should shortly receive the version that works with BIAB. Install it and you should be good to go.

Why it's still considered beta is between PGMusic and jBridge; however, it is easily accessible for previously registered users (as was I).

Hope this helps.

thanks John...afaik I already have done that..but it still stops after 20 minutes. I have had a licence for j-bridge for some years now and have never had these issues. However I will go back to the website and try again...

ahh silly error - I was taking the update from the main page (where it IS a demo) I followed the pages link you provided...and am awaiting an email from Joao...

Make sure you install the one they send you to your registered email address. If you installed the demo version, I would delete it, reboot, and then install the one they send you.

I know it worked here (and that's exactly what I did even during beta testing, since I was already a registered user). I've also talked someone else through the installation of it, and it worked for them as well.

well I got SampleTank 3 loaded and running however it is getting NO midi input from the external keyboard (using Thru) and ASIO drivers and when notes do play the latency is (seriously) about 23 seconds (NOT milliseconds!)
However when tapping the notes on the virtual keyboard within Sampletank it plays fine...seems there is some issue getting the external midi to play the vst...

It's okay, I forgot that BIAB uses about the weirdest method in that one can ONLY hear live playing when the song is actually playing. Makes it pretty useless if one wants to play an intro part solo. And yes I know you can set empty bars however sometimes I vary intros where they will go either longer or shorter.

I must admit I would have thought PG would have addressed this issue. Maybe it is being saved for yet another paid for upgrade (although this I would consider is a bug, not a feature!)

On my computer, 64-bit Kontakt worked fine with my keyboard using jbridge and ASIO. I would think that there must be something else not related to jbridge.

Same here, I'm running both Kontakt 5 and SampleTank 3 with no problems. Not knowing how the OP has his system setup and how he's running the default synth with the app, could this be an issue where Mr. Warren's ReDirector should be used?

Ditto

I ALSO can use Kontakt 5 (even making sure I call up ONLY the 64 bit VSTi) and ST 3 (which is ONLY 64 bit) no issues in BIAB or RB.

Oh I have no issues using ST3 and it works fine, it is just when I am playing a live part as well (via an external controller keyboard) via the THRU part, it does not actually sound until BIAB's play is activated. This happened with previous versions (even with 32 bit VSTs) but I thought with the introduction of 64bit compatibility (note BIAB is STILL 32 bit itself) PG may have addressed this issue.

Try setting your ASIO driver to "Always On" and see if that lets you play even if BIAB isn't playing.

Thanks John - it is already set to always on. I recall another thread discussing this (http://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Main=30401&Number=210643#Post210643) and from that (at the time) getting the message that that is just the way BIAB does it with VST handling and the THRU option smile

Now another issue...I saved the setup (including the ST3 vst) using the save song with patches and harmony and ensured I had the Thru radio button checked AND the tick in Save/Load Thru Settings with songs.

The VST does load when the song is selected and even with the patch stored, but it will not sound (even when the song is started) unless I go to the Thru part settings and select the ST3 to open its window and "wake it up"

Any ideas?

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
