When using the DEL keyboard button on a highlighted (red) note in the notation editor, i almost every time get pestered with a pop up asking me by DEFAULT (OK) to delete a chord after the note's gone. And i never do want to loose this chord, who does anyway. Now is there anyway to switch this darn pop up off? Permanently, for ever, for good, ahrggghh ? - F
To delete a note, are you holding down the delete key while clicking on the note, or are you using a different method? The warning should only happen when you press delete by itself and there is a chord at the current position.
Hi Andrew. Nope, when i am checking-editing a melody i use the numlock pad's 0/Ins and ./DEL button to move from note to note and listen to it by addressing them individually. They light up in red. Then when i press Delete below the Insert- and besides the End-button the pop up appears after the red note is gone. I wish i could switch that function off ... you can't work very fast that way. I think the chord pop-up box thing is something since 2017, i never saw it in older BIAB versions ......
For me it's a problem, as i use BIAB a lot to analyze imported (midi or sometimes WAV) fiddle melodies for lead sheet printout for my students. Also annoying is that one can't use Esc to close the box, even most (or all?) popup boxes in BIAB; they always need a mouse click, cost's more time. I prefer working without a mouse anyway, things are a lot faster using keyboard shortcuts. -F
You're right, the behavior has changed recently. With earlier versions it would ask you to confirm about deleting the red highlighted note... and now it just deletes it but might ask you to confirm about deleting the chord. In my testing the ESC key works in either case to exit the confirmation dialog.

IMO chord editing features there are plenty in the main arrangement window; it's bit confusing elsewhere too while addressing melodies etc. Besides asking for a confirmation when deleting a red note seems to me like stepping on the brakes of your car for a pedestrian suddenly crossing, and then the (a modern cars') display asks you to OK this drastic action by pressing the horn first as confirmation. Control-Z is enough if you make a mistake there. -F

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.
