Q: BIAB 623 x64; is a loading time of about 11 seconds normal? As BIAB 2018 v520 starts in about 2. F

Fiddler, is this the first bootup in a day's session or second (or more) boot up?

When I first booted up BIAB64 today, it was 17 seconds because Realtracks and Realdrums needed rebuilding (my yesterday's session used the Audiophile drive for RTs and RDs). I then closed BIAB and restarted it. This time, my bootup time for BIAB 64 was pretty much the same as it was with BIAB 2018 at 1.5 seconds.

Regards,
Noel

This is each time i load the same song, just BIAB (x64) 2019 and 2018 loading the same MGU. As such so not the first time and still in need of generating ..... the only plugin used is Halion Sonic SE (2018 also loads it automatically thanks jBridge)

Try Build 625, out today. One feature is faster boot times.

Thanks, PG must have worked hard at this one; quite a lot of RT fixes too .... alas not Paul Franklin's pedal steel yet ... i'll burn me a candle somewhere.

You said in another thread that 625 is still slow. If you have a real-time malware checker running, try excluding /bb from it. See if that helps.

It is unclear if you are talking about the program bootup time or song generation time. Here it sounds like you are talking about song generation. If you are talking about program bootup, that should be a little bit faster with the latest build of Band-in-a-Box 2019.

If you are talking about song generation time and comparing the same song, it should be roughly the same *provided* you have all the same settings. One setting to check is RealTracks - Preferences - 'speed up generation'. Perhaps you have unchecked that.

No, it's the boot up time, and the same quite complex song file MGU, is what BIAB loads 'automatically'. BTW I have bypassed the the the BIAB folders (marked them as trusted) in my virus scanner BTW.

I'll did some bare bone SGU boot tests just now, just a C chord, and saved the empty SGU (ZZ jazzwalz.sty) created in each of 'em, and restarted both BIAB versions. Biab 2018 520 just over 2 seconds, BIAB 625 x64 about 10 seconds ... Speedup generation is on, but in this one no realtrack except the drums.

I'm getting about 4000 ms (4 seconds) in the Help, Utilities, Display Log Text. In fact, it takes several seconds longer to load the text file than to load BIAB.

Note that this is the second or subsequent time in a session loading BIAB. The first time takes around 11 seconds.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
