rebuilt styles, songs and real tracks. win 10...amd a10 radeon r6 4c+6g 1.8ghz 64 bit hp envy biab 2023 with 1004 build. styles 1 to 429 plus extras 1,2,3,4 and 6. running as admin, cleaned up returned to factory settings.
From reading your post, I'm not sure if you are aware of this... in case you are not (and for any other user who might read this and is not aware of it)... When you load a midi file, BIAB will always disable the style. This is because most MIDI files are full arrangements. If you want to enable the style, simply right-click in the window containing the style information and select "Style is enabled".
I'm not sure what you mean by "Breaks up randomly". Could you please give some more information.
For example, are notes not playing? Is there a hissing noise that is heard periodically? Is the playback distorted? etc
Also, what soft synth or soft synths are you running?
noel the midi file goes silent randomly but is still playing. iv have just had another mess around and it plays ok if i use the settings in pic 1
as soon as i check the use vst synth, it goes to pot and also when i check midi through it goes to pot. im using coyote

If the sounds of notes disappear, this is most likely due to the MIDI file contiaining notes that are outside the range of the instrumental notes in the softsynth.
I've noticed that when using Coyote WT, or Coyote Forte, sometime the person who created the MIDI file uses bass notes that are outside the range of the synth.
As an example of what I mean... the orchestral range of an oboe is from middle C to 2 - 3 octaves above middle C. Many softsynths replicate such a range in their construction. So if a MIDI file writer isn't aware of this and writes the note A below middle C to be played by oboe, there will be no sound because the softsynth has not instructions on what to do with such a note.
After you've loaded the MIDI file, have a look at the notation for the file and see which notes are not playing. It's also possible to enter editable notation mode and change the note's pitch to a note that is playable.
Is it the bass notes that you notice being affect the most? If so, then it's almost certainly due to what I've described above.
As a test, if you change the instrument to Piano, it should play the notes since the piano has a very large orchestral range.
noel. ive just defaulted everything in my sound drivers and everything working now. dont know what sorted it, but its ok now. its annoying that i dont know what caused it, but im ok now. once again thanks for your input.

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
