I am looking for a good guitar VST I that I can use to play signature hook lines with a keyboard to simulate guitar. I have amplitube so that I can use it to modify any car sound that is available guitar sound.
Trying out speech to text.
I am just looking at options to purchasing a real guitar that I can play.

Let's narrow the options down a little bit.

Do you have a sample player like SampleTank, UVI Workstation or Kontakt? If so what version? If not, can we assume you want a standalone product?

What is the high end of your price range?

Do you want steel or nylon strings? Acoustic or electric? 6 string, 12 string or both?

The best I've heard/found are the Ample guitars (amplesound.net). I have a number of them, and they are outstanding. They are pricey, however. The full bundle is about the same $$ as the audiophile version of BIAB. Individually, they run about $120-170 each. Amazing sound though.

I've seen some less expensive ones, but nothing that IMO compared to the ample guitars.

You don't even need to do that John. There are excellent midi files all over the net of those classic songs with the guitar parts already there. If you can't find a particular one for free you can buy them for maybe five bucks each and less if you buy a minimum amount.

As for the actual synth, I use Sampletank 3. One tune I did for my sister was a midi file of the Scorpions Still Loving You. It's all guitar. ST3 has a pretty good bank of all kinds of different ones, acoustic and electric and for each type there are sub groups by make, strings, DI, with an amp sym whatever you want. I noticed for the electric ones they had specific Gibsons for example, different models, different pickups and strings, all that stuff. Same with Fender . Tele's, Strats and many different configurations. It confused the heck out of me so I just tried a bunch of them out until I found a sound I liked.

Maybe some of these might do the trick:

https://www.orangetreesamples.com/products/evolution-rock-standard

Note that I have no experience with any of these but I think that I'm gonna DL a few.

With a few MIDI controls, mostly pitch bend for vibrato and hammer on and off, and an amp simulator like Amplitube you can get some decent guitar emulations.

If you are going to buy a new guitar I suggest you look into Rondo mlusic:

https://www.rondomusic.com/electricguitar.html

They have a strat on sale right now for only 79$. I have a number of Rondo guitars and they are fantastic. The best bang for your buck IMHO.

I hope this helps and good luck.

Roger Brown mentioned Amplesound. I agree with Roger's thought that Amplesound's +++ 1950's Fender Stratocaster +++ is as good as it gets. You will be pleased with any guitar VSTi you get from Amplesound. Although Amplesound products are expensive, they are standalone products. They do not need SampleTank or Kontakt to work.

If you don't mind having content play inside a shell, the +++ UVI Workstation +++ is free. A good sounding Stratocaster guitar soundbank that works inside UVI is +++ Strategy +++.

Aside to Roger Brown. Check out the demos for +++ THIS +++ Gibson Sunbird. In my opinion this is the equal to the Amplesound Martin D-45.

Silvertones,

I'd really like to know which product you select and why.

I've listened to many, many guitars VSTi demos over the years and it's not until recently that the demos have begun to sound realistic to my ears.

The strumming patterns in the Band-in-a-Box midi styles are excellent. I've always been impressed with how good the patterns are. But it has been a long climb for guitar VSTis to go from sounding like a poor emulation to sounding like a guitar. Now most guitar VSTis have a sound engine smart enough to automatically add many of the MIDI CCs needed to obtain realistic sound. It's like switching from a vehicle with a manual transmission to one with an automatic transmission. Like Band-in-a-Box it's getting easier to obtain the first 95 percent of a guitar track you desire but the last 5 percent still requires you, the user, to manually add the final touches.

To me the most difficult guitar playing technique to emulate with a VSTi is a string bend. Even in most demos the bend is performed too fast and the bend is too extreme.

That was the thing that caught my ears with that midi file of the Scorpions tune. You can probably still find it with a search. Whoever did it did those bends very well and it was probably done with a midi guitar controller. I know there's no way I could manage that on a keyboard.
