I'm a new BiaB user as of 2020, and bought the Ultrapak. I want to upgrade to have everything that the 2021 Ultrapak has, but the upgrade announcement is a bit confusing. This from Callie's note: Band-in-a-Box® PlusPAK Upgrade from Version 2020: $99 (reg: $129) (The PlusPAK is designed to upgrade 2020 UltraPAK & UltraPAK+ users who are downloading their upgrade or do not want to purchase a new hard drive.) Band-in-a-Box® UltraPAK $469 Upgrade from Version 2020: $149 (reg: $279) Upgrade from Version 2019 or earlier or crossgrade: $169 (reg: $299) The Hovering over the Ultrapak upgrade box in the Purchase Options matrix at https://www.pgmusic.com/bbwin.packages.htm mentions a lot of MIDI, Artists, and Loop content. Do I already have all of that from 2020? I had the impression there was some new MIDI and MIDI supertracks content, plus some artists recordings. I'm fine with just doing the download rather than the SSD, as I've got BiaB installed on my own drive anyway. I do plan to also purchase the 49 pak. Thanks for the help - hopefully I'll have this figured out from here on. I do recall I was confused when I bought Pro and wanted to Upgrade to Ultrapak within a few days after my purchase.

Hello,
If you have the 2020 UltraPAK hard drive, the PlusPAK 2021 upgrade can be downloaded and installed onto that hard drive, and it will give you the same new content as you'll get with the UltrPAK 2021 upgrade. You will just not get a 'full fresh install 2021 hard drive. You will get the free bonus 0 PAK either way, which contains new Artist Performances, Instrumental Studies, MIDI styles, etc., and you'll have the option to upgrade the 0 PAK to the 49 PAK for even more content e.g. unreleased bonus RealTracks.

Like Andrew stated and like I did yesterday, download the $99 Upgrade from Version 2020 and that will get you into 2021. Also, like I do each year, I order any new Xtra Style Paks and the 49 Pak when I do my yearly upgrade. That way when I go into "What Upgrades Do I Have", I will see that I have everything.
BWT, that layout of "What Upgrades Do I Have" has also been upgraded for 2021 and it does make it much easier to see if you are missing anything.

Thanks, Andrew. I've upgraded and have the it installed now.
I have the 2020 SSD with my initial Ultrapak, but have installed everything "locally" on my internal SSD. Is there a procedure for updating that SSD, so I continue to have an up-to-date image of BiaB for the current year?

I do that. Run the installer again and specify the different location of the files.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option
Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!
Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!
For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.
Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.
Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!
Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.
Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!
If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.
A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."
"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."
"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
