I am in the process of placing my order for the ultrapak, my question is, I want next day shipping, but for hard drive it says 2-5 days, for hardware, etc. it says next day. Would I be better off getting the dvd pack. I want to make sure I am home when package arrives. I do have external hard drives. I realize it takes time to download the dvd's but that's okay.

Once you place your order, you should also receive download links and you can start right away. Of course, you would have to use your own disk space to install (but that's what I do anyway, preferring to keep my BIAB hard drive as a backup copy).

Of course, depending on your internet connection, it can take a long time to download the gigabytes of data.

You didn't say where you lived. I often ask for a tracking number and put that into their website and watch it leave, arrive on the mainland, leave BC, arrive in Hamilton, out to London and in the next day truck. That was for hard drives. I suspect the crazy season is over and should ask sales if they can same day ship it and who it would be and if you can have the tracking #.

I know i was amazed the first time for I saw it picked up at 4 p.m. in Victoria which is like 7 p.m. here, and the thing was in Hamilton outside Toronto at 3 a.m. and on a truck here (100 miles) at 4:30 and out for delivery at 7. In fact more reliable if you want to get it and they ship I think UPS, you get the address of the local ups store place and have it shipped there, I get a bi-weekly shipment to Purolator and if I wait for it at home it comes between noon and 3, I found out it's at the depot every time at 9 a.m. which is a block and a half from my house. As I pick it up and take it downtown anyway, it made more sense to have it sent to the depot/store than to my house, I didn't have to be at home to get it.

It's a small percentage, and it seems that some people have older ports or underpowered ports. None of the ports on my monitor will run one, but it gets a line from the back of the computer and is a powerless hub. Not much of an issue, some people seem to think they are broken, which can happen during shipping if the package is the right size to play baseball with. You have to see the guys handle packages to know something somewhere is going to break.

Unlike many of the other postings, my USB hard drive that I received worked fine in my HP Pavilion Elite desktop and the homebuilt machine (which has a Gigabyte mother board) using only a standard USB cable (didn't need the double cable). Worked with both frontside and rear USB ports. Maybe I'm just lucky.

Yeah, same goes for my desktop (DAW) and my laptop. All USB ports supply enough power for the HD. And that's just using one of the USB plugs (the long one), shipped with the HD.

Guess, I'm lucky too!

Mike

The audiophile version has the power brick; the regular version does not (two different sized hard drives). Since you said UltraPAK, then no, the 160GB drive will not have a power brick.

Thanks, good to know. Would I be better off ordering online here, or by phone. I have account set up here, I just have to confirm order. I know pg has 800 number but calling from here in Wisconsin where my home phone is a cell phone I think it will cost .49 cents a minute. I have Verizon and that's what they charge for Canada calls. If I am wrong on this let me know. I just want to get to creating. I also signed up today with My Space so I can get some tunes to you guys, any suggestions for My Space would be great. All of the 160G drives however do have provisions, jack, for using a wall wart and there's a diagram for polarity BUT no voltage specified. Is it 5 VDC Maybe maybe not.

i would go with "slightly" higher than 5VDC because there are regulators inside the drive that need the extra bit of voltage headroom.

I think 7.2V at a minimum, a hard one to find, but 9VDC is easy to find. Pay attention to the Current rating, too, not enough Amperage will put you right back where you started. I don't know what the minimum Current requirement is, but would recommend a 9VDC wallwart that can provide at least about 1 Amp. The USB spec is supposed to be 5VDC at 2A, BTW.

Be sure to get the polarity at the plug correct. That is embossed on the drive next to the socket. Cross-polarity is sure to damage something, if unsure, don't try it.

I was wondering if there was a regulator inside the box. Have you layed eyes on one? If there isn't one anything other the 5 VDC will fry the little bugger. Here's one for a powered hub. Plenty of power here.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
