Hey guys,

I know there's a way to have an intro play ONLY ONCE right?

and then your choruses/ verses, will then avoid it right?

what's the code for that please?

Hi KGU 2,

You just need to set the beginning of the chorus to the measure that's after the intro.

For example, if you have an 8-bar intro, enter 9 as the Start bar.

Thanks

KGU,

It sounds like you're using multiple choruses. If that's correct, then you need to set where the first bar of the song is... this is the bar number that follows the last bar of the intro. Just click on "Start" and enter the first bar of the song.

If your view of BIAB is different from mine, use CTRL+T to toggle between displays.

Regards,
Noel

Ahh... you type to quick Kent. Seems that we were answering at the same time.

thanks Kent - worked a treat!

Is there a way to END the song into the second chorus?

Ie: without having it play through the entire time, [ but

of course not ending it, on the first play through?]

Hi Noel96,

thanks for the great diagram. Yes I didnt see yours when
I replied to Kent. The really funny thing is I had it
set to start the way I wanted, somehow by luck.

But I dont want everything to play through the second time
exactly like the first. Should I just abandon these chorus
/ verses and string the entire song out in one piece only?

thanks

I have never used multiple choruses.

I like the control that I have over having a single chorus where the song plays from beginning to end.

This set up let me stop where I want and add part markers wherever I like. I like this flexibility. If you have a look at the link below, you'll see what I mean.

https://vimeo.com/143978481

Next time you create a backing, try using a single chorus. This will allow you to see which approach you like best.

Regards,
Noel

P.S. When you said...

Quote:

... this could happen if the song was not regenerated after the settings were changed (or if tracks were frozen).

thanks,

yes In the past Ive used SINGLE chorus method.

The other ways are too confusing. BUT WE STILL NEED to mark

COLORED sections!!!!

Else wise its just a huge blur to me.

Although you have some color. Is that drum changes or just

non destructive colored settings?

I notice you HAVE blank spaces . that nicely helps

separate sections. Is that intentional?

How do I do that please?

You can use a TAG in the second chorus to cut it wherever you like, and continue on with something different if desired.

The blue part markers tell BIAB to play less energetic rhythm both instrumental and drums, the green part marks indicate sections with greater musical energy.

I don't know if this is useful or not for you, but if you right-click on the chordsheet, it's possible to add Section Letters to help define sections. Unfortunately, these are not coloured.

Regards,
Noel

It's a setting in "Display Options" called "New line for every section".

When activated, if you add a part marker, the bar will begin a new line of chords. The grey regions are nothing... just unused space.

The default number of bars is 2. This means if one clicks on bar 2 or 3 in a line to add a part marker, and the above setting is active, the part marker will begin the next line.

And the grey space is an option you can turn on and off.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
