This is beautiful... very impressive...
How does it work with BiaB..?
What is the advantage of using this compared to not..?
Is there a way to sample the chord variations..?
Any documentation..?

What is the advantage of using this compared to not..? If you love typing, retyping chords to add pushes, holds or exempt instruments and can remember all of Biab chords don't use it
Is there a way to sample the chord variations..? Just the preview sound of the chord on button click
Any documentation..? Yes click the link below

I LOVE YOU, Pipeline!

Why didn't you PM about this immediately?!?! grin

Editing to add: Should I uninstall the other version first? (I'm always a bit hesitant to uninstall stuff as I've had experiences in the past where it leaves all sort random files and stuff that can end up clashing with later updated versions and give me error messages).

Thanks again!

You can uninstall the old one first but it shouldn't matter as it will just overwrite the files and leave the current settings.ini that may have your custom action buttons you have set up.

Hey Pipeline,

Hate to be a PITA here, but the app won't launch :-(

When I try launch at the prompt upon installing, I get the message in the screenshot, and when I try to launch it by running the exe. (as admin, ofc) nothing at all happens.

B.T.W. Please do not concern yourself with this during the holidays, I'm just leaving this here for whenever is convenient for you at a later time.

Happy Holidays! grin

Not sure what's happening there maybe the antvirus is stopping it ?, if you install AutoHotKey then look in the Program Files\Biab Chord Picker Tool\ you will see Biab Chord Picker 2.2.ahk just run that.

EDIT: you may need to add an exception in the AV for it.
Quote:
When I install the program I get a "CreateProcess failed; code 2." error

This error can occur if you have anti-virus software installed and the anti-virus software is incorrectly reporting that one of the files installed contains a virus. Unfortunately anti-virus software often gives "false positives", i.e. wrongly concludes a file contains a virus. Our software does not contain viruses:

Tried this one and got a similar message (see screenshot) :-(

I really appreciate your efforts Pipeline, and I'm starting to feel guilty for being such a pain.

Do you think that if I hook up the second monitor to disable it the regular app would work then, or is it an issue with my laptop's screen's native resolution/aspect ratio? (I hope I got the terminology at least mostly right whistle )

Thanks again!

This one will install in a different location, Windows had a problem with the other as it was installed in the same location and the file was changed it had a security issue.

Download this again and it will now install in a new location with a new name.

Tried and got the same error message :-(

I'm gonna try doing that autohotkey thing you mentioned and see if that works.

Thank you for your patience!

Yay, AutoHotKey was the key, and everything fits PERFECTLY within the display!!!

However, we're not quite out of the woods yet. The CPT will not communicate with BiaB. :-(

That is, in the regular (non-compact) version, it just launched, I pressed on some chords and they immediately appeared in BiaB, and now the BiaB window just "blinks."

Thanks again!

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
