Tried it, but seems like it is lesser control over each channels, as far as I could see.. But perhaps I just overlooked something? But it did take my 4 GB. soundfonts, the DSoundFont Ultimate Version 3.50.sf2 in without problems...

Bassmidi is a stable plugin, but has very limited features. I had a conversation with Zoltan (guy who wrote it) last year and he said there is no future development on horizon.

If there are issues with VSTSynthfont, I suggest contacting mr. Rundt
directly and explain the problem. He is constantly working on improving his plug and takes feedback seriously.
As of today, it is probably the most advanced GM SF2 rompler for the price. Next is Halion, but that is a totally different animal.

Yep Halion has to be the best sounds for me so far.

The price difference is astronomical and Halion has its own issues.
Definitely sounds better and tuned...Well, Yamaha is Yamaha.

But, as a very flexible, inexpensive GM alternative synth with huge number of SF2 in the wild, VSTSynthfont beats most if not all competition, factoring GM+SF2.

I have to mention this again, if you spot bugs, please report them to K.Rundt directly, he takes those things seriously and tries to resolve issues in timely manner.

Misha.

Coyote gig instruments? What is that, is it different from the basic Wavetable?

Be very wary when downloading and installing anything from softpedia.com. Their products tend to be full of bloatware that installs (maybe unknowingly) along with the target product.

I don't try to post things with ad-ware. If you look it will tell you if it contains ad-ware:

The Coyote Forte (not the Coyote WT) actually uses Giga format samples for its sounds (harder to find and use these days with the demise of GigaStudio). I remembered years ago, Mac tried to substitute other Giga samples in Forte with limited success, as there turned out to be memory issues when they got too large.

You can also convert the gigs to a GM SF2.

You can also convert them to DLS files .. which then can become the Windows default sound set. smile

I do not encourage messing with Windows system files, like the aforementioned DLS files, if you are inexperienced or not prepared to have a safe way to revert back.
But it can be pretty cool.

Imagine if your Coyote WT used a custom soundfont for MIDI .. instead of the cheesy Windows default synth sounds.
Even Windows Media Player is instantly improved for MIDI. <grin>

Mac (mentioned above) taught me this.
Of course, with W10 updates it's likely to revert back every couple months.. like many other custom Windows settings.

I have had BIG problems with BOTH synth-font AND Bassmidi the last days... After paying the license for Synth-font, it stopped working on all channels after I downloaded the latest update.. It worked only on channel 1. Then I had to bad connection to download a new, so I resorted to Bassmidi.. Strange thing started to happen.. Notes, in Reaper, started to hang.. But when I soloed the track, it worked again.. Back to playing all track, it hung again..

This morning, I was able to download a new version of Synth-font, so I uninstalled the old, and installed the new one.. Then when I selected the sound-font folder, synth-font hang (hung?) again.. I uninstalled again, installed again, BUT this time it just continued to try to load from the font folder, without me selecting anything, and hung again.. Tried several times, uninstalled, installed, uninstalled, installed... same happens.. So, I checked the VST folder in programfiles, and yes, the synth-font .DLL was still there... Deleted it, and tried again, and STIL, after another fresh install, tried to load from the sound-font folder, WITHOUT me selecting anything.. Obliviously, there is some corrupter soundfonts there.. BUT, a fresh install should NOT automatically start to load soundfonts from a folder I have not selected.. This is a very immature behavior.. How can it be a fresh install if there still is some remains of the old one, that is taken in and causing all this problems??? So I guess I have to contact Mr. K.Rundt about this for a solution..

Great Pipeline. It's good to know that they can alert you in advance. I don't think they used to do that, and I've been caught before (hence the caution). I haven't used that site for a while.

My post certainly wasn't in reference to the specific link you provided, just a caution to that web site in general.

I'd avoid downloading anything from SoftPedia, https://www.majorgeeks.com/ usually has the direct links fro the same stuff.

I put the falconsoft site link in the original post but look at the pic below,
you don't want to scare users away from downloading anything, if you have another link post it so at least they will be able to download it.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
