Hello,

I haven't come across someone attempting this before, so I am not aware of an export setting made for this, but I'll ask some colleagues and get back to you.

In the meantime, I think I've come up with a pretty good method.

It involves totally destroying most of your hard work and then undoing it, which can be a little scary, so it's not for the faint of heart.

So, open the Song Form Dialogue (in the Tools section). Let's imagine you just want to export bars 9 to 12. In the first unused section (A if you aren't using sections), under Bar #, you'd put 9, and under # of Bars you'd put 4. That would make section A consist of bars 9 to 12. Then in the form section at the bottom of that window, just input A, and click Ok- Generate form. Now your song is just those bars in section A and everything else has been deleted. AAAAH! It's ok, we can undo that after we export.

Export your song as a WAV file, and once it's done, hit undo (ctl-z on PC, command-z on Mac). That will undo the change to the song form and revert it back to its original form, bringing back all that stuff you lost. Repeat as necessary.

I hope that works for you, and I'll get back to you when I find out more.

Thanks David - PG Music ,

Glad to see people working to make this great program, even more useful.

This does sound a bit radical, I will gladly study it. Anyone
else verified it working yet?

Appreciate the response!

I consulted with some colleagues, and it turns out there is a WAY simpler method of doing this.

If you have a range of bars selected (shift+click to select multiple) when you are exporting, it will only export those selected bars. You'll know they're selected if they're highlighted in black.

So it was pretty fun getting creative to solve that issue in a weird way, but it was also totally unnecessary. Oh well, it's not about the destination, it't about the lessons we learn along the way, right?

Cheers

Hi David,

Is this Realband or BIAB? I cannot use shift+click nor ctrl+click on the BIAB chordsheet. (It could be that I'm doing something wrong.)

Regards,
Noel

Thanks, Trev. I misread David's post. I interpreted "multiple" and "range of bars" as two different things not the same. For example: select bars 5 to 8 and then, while keeping these selected, select bars 17 to 22.

Ahhh, I see. Yes, I hadn't thought of that, but re-reading, it was certainly possible to interpret it that way.
(I was also a little surprised that you couldn't do it blush blush blush. Silly me <ha ha> )

Yes. It's working for me.

I highlight a section of bars ie: 5-8

from the WAV tool bar at the top of the screen, click the drop down arrow

click: Export song as Audio File

For your second question
To me the safest workaround would be exporting the whole thing as an audio file, then trimming that as needed ..
but as others mentioned, in recent versions you should be able to accomplish this.

Make your sound your own!
.. I do not work here, but the benefits are still awesome

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
