Something strange is happening on the last measure of my song. I added a realtrack guitar (~510:Guitar, Electric, Rhythm Dire) to the song. I want to hear just the guitar and let it sustain from beat one to the end of the bar on the last measure. So I clicked F5, muted the other instruments and then wrote my bar chord as Db... Well the chord sustains across the measure but it is an entirely different guitar, a loud distorted electric power chord.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

There seems to be an issue with the wrong Holds at the moment.

Lee N had a similar issue https://www.pgmusic.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=748172#Post748172

You can try a factory reset and see if that corrects it, try rebuilding the RealTracks after in the RealTrack picker at the bottom..

RealTracks reset didn't make any difference. I haven't tried the factory reset but I've only installed BIAB 2023 in the past week and this is the first project I've been working on.

Lees, can you upload the song file (or a link to it) to let us look at it closely?

It's currently set to x:\bb\RealTracks\Library\Holds\Holds_485
and x:\bb\RealTracks\Direct Input\Library\Holds\Holds_28
the 485 is a distorted FX Hold

Try using the Direct Input version and see if the Hold 28 matches.

I can't remember the file that stores these at the moment.

I'm guessing that 2023 version has the holds pointing messed up. The files in the holds folder hasn't changed ( I just checked an old backup) and I don't recall having this problem before.
#510 is pointing to holds 485, so is probably the wrong number.
Has anybody got an older version still installed, maybe they could check if the reference matches?

It's the C:\bb\Data\rtextra.bin
if I put and old one in it gets the correct Holds but it may not have the new RealTracks in it.

Thanks, I don't see how to get to the Edit window for this realtrack. This level of editing is new to me. I tried to attach the song file, but it appears to only accept image files

Place the song into the free Dropbox and then list the song's location in this thread.

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.

OK, so to answer your questions, "why does instrument change on last measure of song": it is because you have a hold on the last measure of the song and that hold is coded to play the wrong RT sound. This can only be fixed by the developers. I just sent it to them.

But here is a workaround crazy .

Here it is fixed

The solution (workaround) was exactly as musocity stated.

Quote:
It's currently set to x:\bb\RealTracks\Library\Holds\Holds_485
and x:\bb\RealTracks\Direct Input\Library\Holds\Holds_28
the 485 is a distorted FX Hold
Try using the Direct Input version and see if the Hold 28 matches.

I muted the problem RT, and used the exact same RT with the Soloist Feature. This allowed me to change the Hold from 485 to 28 in the edit menus for Soloists.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
