While PT has the PGRTA, which is a very nice RealTimeAnalyzer, what happens if you need to compare two tracks together?...Enter the MultiInspector.
There is a free version that works at 44.1 and a pay version for higher bit rates.
It allows you to open a 31band analyzer on any track...then go to another track and open another instance of the analyzer and it will link to the previous instance(s) on the other tracks. This allows you to see (in one display with seperate colors) the RTA of the two tracks. Now you can see why the bass is muddy sounding when the synth part starts, or why the guitar gets dirty sounding when the bass plays, etc. and make the necessary adjustments on the EQ's for the tracks.
Excellent idea; excellent tool that works in PT-

This looks interesting.

Thanx Bob - MarioD

Me, it's not about how many times you fail, it's about how many times you get back up.
Cop, that's not how field sobriety tests work.

Bob,

This does look nice - I like the aspect of it that it will automatically overlay 2nd, 3rd, 4th instances of the plugin so you can do some comparisons. For pay, you can do something similar with Har-Bal except that it will also create an FIR filter to make up the differences between the two files being compared. It's a great way to quickly EQ a track that you want to sound like a similar track. Craig Anderton did a writeup on it a couple years ago in either EQ or Electronic Musician.

I've downloaded it to give it a whirl.

Another one that you might want to check out is a narrow-band analyzer with somewhat similar function - BlueCat's freqanalyst.
http://www.bluecataudio.com/Products/Product_FreqAnalyst/

This one has an opacity control on the GUI and you can stack one on top of the other to do a similar thing as with the one you show here, but a little more tedious. I've got to give the one you linked a whirl. Couple it with a linear phase graphic EQ and dial-in that tune!!!

This one works great for my needs.. no hassle..auto lnking between tracks, etc.
very simple, lo impact and functional.
But you got the idea; couple it with an EQ of your choice and surgery is a lot more productive.

Bob,

I've tried using this and I had one somewhat big problem with it:

I can't figure out how to get the display to slow down or show some kind of inertia to the meters. I tried using it to help pink/ring out a room on a live setup the other day and it was just too jittery of a display to work with.

I ended up using fre(k)ascope from smart electronix. That one is pretty cool - you might want to check it out. It even has critical band frequency divisions, which I use often in my real day job.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
