Hi. Sort of new to RB 2020 v3.

Is it normal that there's a 0.5 sec delay latency when you press play (both spacebar or screen button) after loading a SEQ file, with only 1 MIDI and 5 audio tracks ?
This from any bar on the scenario, not only the intro ...

I have no such problems with BIAB 713, and the 'same' MGU file ...

Doesn't happen here, but I don't use mgu files in RB, I always save as a seq file right away.
I'll see if I can find one to test with.
I do notice your ASIO is running at 2.9 ms .. pretty small buffer.
Mine is usually 5.8 ms

Found mgu sample files .. still can't replicate the issue

Hi Rharv, you mean pre load track buffer? mine is 2000 ms.
The other 2.9 is from my RME UFX, and has no problems with BIAB or any other audio nor video software ...
Also it seems non-changeable; RME is famous for their trickery LoL.

Yeah, I see all that from your picture.
I just can't say I see the half second delay when clicking play.

As a test, play the file and mute/unmute a track. Does it have the same delay?
Even this seems instantaneous here, but thought it might be something you could check that may give more clues.
How about slider movements, do they have a delay?
Have you tried the old 'turn it off and turn it back on' for the machine?

Muting etc, all the same. Slider OK. My PC is tuned to the hilt, Windows 10 LTSB without all that MS c-o-c-k & Bull.
Sonnet USB card with four controllers, one for Audio only.
It has to do with RB IMO. Some setting maybe.
I'll look into it later. as i decided to continue the RB project once again in Cubase instead.

ADDED: Tested Realband 2019 v5 and 2020 v1 ...same thing.

Yes, you appear to have plenty of horsepower to run PT.
Never doubted that. Nice setup for sure.
Just trying to help narrow it down.

Very strange that muting has the delay also. Yet the sliders are OK .. or did I misunderstand?

Fiddler2007,

Are you aware RealBand or PowerTracks Pro does not start playback until all tracks are completely built while Band-in-a-Box builds a few bars of each track, begins playback and continues to build tracks as a background task until all tracks are built?

This difference in the way each program builds tracks make it appear that Band-in-a-Box builds tracks much quicker than RealBand or PowerTracks Pro.

Is it possible the how programs build tracks difference is what you are experiencing?

Nope, always, tracks generated, SEQ loaded, and BIAB works OK. As said above, it must be some Realband setting, and it's just with play.
Yesterday i tried RB 2019 v5, and 2020 v1; same thing.

What MIDI synth(s) get loaded?
Is it possible a synth or MIDI driver is causing this?
Maybe something weird like RB is suddenly using MIDI mapper or something .. just off the top of my head.
Not likely, but I can't think of much else looking at your specs and your post/image.

Without, with Coyote wavetable and Halion Sonic SE no differences. No Midi mappers ...
Maybe something to do with Midiclock etc, you made me think LoL.

ADDED: been experimenting with various settings ... same delay. Reset factory defaults. NADA.

Note: BIAB and all other video or audio runs fine, no irritant playback start delays.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
