Hey,

PG asked me to to post my RB questions here so everyone can benefit.

smile

So, I have one.

On another thread, Muso says this about Real Track Midi Drum generation:

"as an aside how many people know in rb midi drum traks can be genned gonzo fast eg using *.dp feature.
so as i have 48 traks i just stay in midi cos i can work fast. the objective being to see how well the song hangs together. ie step 1 is genning midi guide traks."

I don't know what this means but I would like to know.

AND, I would be VERY interested to know if I can go into Real Band 2023 and ONLY generate the Midi Real Chart from a list of drums, not not also generate the .wav as well.

The reason is sometimes I only want the midi loaded as a reference and do not need the .wav per se each time.

Well, if there is any info on what Muso was saying, what it means, and where you find the instructions that would be greatly appreciated.

Currently I don't think there is a way to just generate realcharts without the WAVs although the tracks with the WAVs can be deleted.

I think he was referring to Edit - MIDI - Fill Track With Drum Pattern, which uses DP files in the Realband\MidiDrums folder.

There's also a Drum Grid Editor in Edit - MIDI - Drums/Patch Map - Drum Grid Editor.

Ah yes, ok. Thanks Jeff.

It is still massively cool to be able to get the drum chart, and I am thankful.

When I thought for a second I was going to be able to get instant midi for all the real drums and bypass
.wav generate I flipped out.

Oh well. Maybe next year.

Still your biggest fan.

(ps jeff..yep i used the oft forgotten 'fill' feature...
i used to do sooo many ruff demos in ptw useing it for speed.)

David//ALL.

how to minimise waveform times in rb….YEE HAW !!..lol.
a trickie dickie. ..to save constant waveform wav redraws.
this is what i did….one way. .
(i did a song sw8 yaw style with rt's. )
1..i laid out my chords n' genned ONCE…THEN i did a stereo audio mix n'imported the stereo mix on a spare trak in rb. ..THEN…
2..i replaced the yaw style with a MIDI SW 8 style…THEN
(note same chords obviously).
3..on different rb traks i genned all sorts of midi traks one after tother..includeing midi supertraks. all sorta midi instruments including drums…all playing along with the one stereo trak. genned loads of midi traks (no waveform waiting) and of course if i chose then i could experiment pluging vi's/sfrz/synthmaster etc on a midi trak.

thus there you go…no keep on waiting for waveform draws. PLUS smaller *.seq storage sizes.

LET ME EMPHASISE THE KEY IS AFTER GENNING THE STEREO MIX FROM ORIGINAL STYLE (filled with rt's etc ) REPLACE IT WITH A SIMILAR MIDI STYLE AS TO MATCHING SWING or EVEN etc. in this case i replaced a rt style sw8 with a all midi sw8 style.

then after doing all the above extra midi traks....... for " s's n' giggles'...i then starting experimenting
with loops.

lets look at the advantages of above method…

..no constant rt waveform redraws. cos only one guide audio stereo trak.
..i find i can work faster.
..one can experiment with different combos of midi traks/plug ins/etc etc.
..great for 'sing along' to test ones vocs n' if the key works with ones vocs...n' lyrics etc.
..remembder if the chord sheet is loaded into bb…also you can also drag midi traks into the shebang.

hth…i KNOW it seems a tad complex but once one gets the hang of it/experiments..
its an interesting method. works good here.
(REMEMBER TO DO SEQ SAVES !)

happiness.

om

Jeff,

Not working on my end. See screenshots. It reverts back to Coyote. In 2022 it would at least save Aria. And Aria is the default.

I think I need to go read that other post of yours more carefully and try what you said, now I see I missed some things and get back you you.

Thanks Jeff.

You can get the RealDrumsMidiCharts by opening the MGU drum style of closest bpm to RB project, then drag the the Melody track into RB, either to MID or drag the track direct.

Thanks, that's a neat trick. I see you did it with a pedal steel track.

I tried it with a drum track and it did not work.

I will try again later.

Thanks again.

They are all in the Melody track no matter what it's called drag it.
If you look in the Piano Roll view you will see the midi drums.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
