I've done a lot Buffet tunes in the past. Maybe I'll boycott him for a while, even tho' his efforts toward the clean-up are admirable. I heard him say on TV that the gulf oil spill is George Bush's fault. Now, where did he learn that?

As to fault for this spill.....

This is just a clear example of cutting corners for profit. The scary thing is, how many more oil rigs are waiting time-bombs like this one was?

We've been lucky so far up to this incident. That is all. Blame all of us for the demand for gasoline that is cheaper by the gallon than bottled water if you want to lay blame somewhere. All the while the oil companies making insanely high profits. Blame them.

Not a socialist here - just seems that with the risks involved, the oil companies could have done better self-policing. But is there a single rig with a way to reliably cap off the hole at the bottom of the sea?

Seriously - gasoline at $2.50 a gallon. Cheaper than milk. Cheaper than a gallon of some, not all, bottled water.

Where were we all demanding better safety for these rigs before this one blew? Can't speak for others but I was conveniently ignorant on the topic - though I remember there was a fairly silent sigh of relief when the rigs knocked around by Katrina didn't result in something similar.

Do we really have any business trying to connect a tube miles below the ocean surface to something at the top?

Seems kind of crazy if you think of all the engineering and factors of safety that need to be in place to prevent another instance of what's happened recently.

J. Larry, hope you won't let politics get in the way of missing a great concert. The music is awesome and the concert was free - a gift to the people of the gulf coast. I think this is one of the best "Coral Reefer Band" back up bands that Buffett's ever put together. I'm going to watch it again. grin.

Jim, I don't know if those are central or eastern times, I got it off the CMT site.

Russ, a treat this one hope you get to watch it.

Scott milk prices affect milk. Gas prices affect everything you buy because everything you purchase is trucked to the store and this cost is passed on to you and me. There's plenty of blame to go around but it's not the consumer's fault that we are still an oil dependent nation or that oil is spewing in the gulf. That's my view.

I'm glad for this concert because the whole situation down here is just so sad. The last song Jimmy Buffett sings is really heart wrenching it's called "When The Coast Is Clear".

Well, none of us could really express our opinion on anything if everyone who diagreeed with the opinion we expressed boycotted the source of our livlihood. What is the use of having freedom of speech if you have to pay the price every time you make a political statement that someone doesn't happen to like? Jimmy is a local product, isn't making any money off his Gulf Shores concert, and has probably earned the right to say anything he wants without someone telling him to shut up or else.

There is plenty of blame to go around and the bottom line is that over years and years the United States government has alllowed the oil industry to decide what acceptable standards should be for deep water drilling. Worse, even when the industry as a whole decides what best practices should be, many times the regulatory arm of the government only recommends that something should be done rather than requiring that it should be done.

A prime example of this is the use of Blind Rams as the method of last resort to prevent a catastophic failure of the blowout preventor on the oil rigs. Within the last ten years, it was recongized that there was a high liklihood of failure in a Blow Out Preventer system that had a single blind ram. The oil industry decided that best practices for deep water drilling operations was to have a Blow Out Preventer with two blind rams, and because of this the Deep Water Horizon was designed and built to accomodate two blind rams . Instead, it had only one fitted in actual operation. The regulatory people advised but did not require two blind rams. One theory on the current blow out is that the blind ram on the Deep Water Horizon deployed but did so at a point where there was a weld in the pipe and was not able to cut through. A second ram would have cut at a different point and perhaps successfully capped off the well. At least there would have been a second chance to try.

One of the reasons that the government is requesting a moratorium on gulf drilling is that there are a number of rigs operating in the gulf at the moment that not only have a single blind ram, they were not designed to accomdate two and can not be fitted with a second. I think I read that there are at least 7 transocean ltd rigs in the gulf right now that do have multiple blind rams and the Deep Water Horizon was the only one that they had deployed in the gulf that was not fitted with the extra protection.

Who is at fault for government not taking charge and making more stingent requirenents? Everyone who has ever been in a position to force the policy change and that includes Barrack Obama and George Bush. Barrack has manned up and taken public responsibility for his failure to take action. Since George hasn't done likewise its okay with me if Jimmy does it for him. Ultimately, we are all responsible for being more concerned about the availabilty of cheap gasoline than about safe ways of drilling for oil.

Mike the first time it ran last Sunday, it was live with no commercials. The "encore" broadcasts unfortunately have commercials and a lot of the banter and a few songs were editted out.

Well I somehow managed to miss Wed. evening--now shooting for tomorrow morning. I really need to set up a way to record. That way I can catch any show and ff thru the commercials too.

The Band-in-a-Box® Flash Drive Backup Option

Today (April 5) is National Flash Drive Day!

Did you know... not only can you download your Band-in-a-Box® Pro, MegaPAK, or PlusPAK purchase - you can also choose to add a flash drive backup copy with the installation files for only $15? It even comes with a Band-in-a-Box® keychain!

For the larger Band-in-a-Box® packages (UltraPAK, UltraPAK+, Audiophile Edition), the hard drive backup copy is available for only $25. This will include a preinstalled and ready to use program, along with your installation files.

Backup copies are offered during the checkout process on our website.

Already purchased your e-delivery version, and now you wish you had a backup copy? It's not too late! If your purchase was for the current version of Band-in-a-Box®, you can still reach out to our team directly to place your backup copy order!

Note: the Band-in-a-Box® keychain is only included with flash drive backup copies, and cannot be purchased separately.

Handy flash drive tip: Always try plugging in a USB device the wrong way first? If your flash drive (or other USB plug) doesn't have a symbol to indicate which way is up, look for the side with a seam on the metal connector (it only has a line across one side) - that's the side that either faces down or to the left, depending on your port placement.

Band-in-a-Box® 2024 Review: 4.75 out of 5 Stars!

If you're looking for a in-depth review of the newest Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows version, you'll definitely find it with Sound-Guy's latest review, Band-in-a-Box® 2024 for Windows Review: Incredible new capabilities to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs.

A few excerpts:
"The Tracks view is possibly the single most powerful addition in 2024 and opens up a new way to edit and generate accompaniments. Combined with the new MultiPicker Library Window, it makes BIAB nearly perfect as an 'intelligent' composer/arranger program."

"MIDI SuperTracks partial generation showing six variations – each time the section is generated it can be instantly auditioned, re-generated or backed out to a previous generation – and you can do this with any track type. This is MAJOR! This takes musical experimentation and honing an arrangement to a new level, and faster than ever."

"Band in a Box continues to be an expansive musical tool-set for both novice and experienced musicians to experiment, compose, arrange and mix songs, as well as an extensive educational resource. It is huge, with hundreds of functions, more than any one person is likely to ever use. Yet, so is any DAW that I have used. BIAB can do some things that no DAW does, and this year BIAB has more DAW-like functions than ever."
